Now before you read if you are going to flame me for cheating or what ever do not bother because i do not care.

I was at work today thinking about how i can grind faster or if i could work out a way for a spec to grind it self. Now in a thread i saw a few weeks go a guy used rubber band to hold his gas pedal on so it got me thinking....

When you drive you finish the race and you can press "x" and only "x" a few times and it re starts the race. So i got the gas pedal sorted and now i have sorted something out to press "x".

This is just a trial so car and i have only tried the Indy course with some easy beats and about 8000 xp points per race.

I used an old timer gear and bent the shaft so it goes out of round ever so slightly so as that goes around it taps the "x" about every 7 seconds. So you start a race with the gas full and once the race is done this shaft turns and taps the x until the new race starts and the same thing over and over and over.

Here it is at the top of its rotation.

And now here it is coming around and touching the "x" button.

Just saw this idea and think I need it.
Is it not an indictment of the game that something is wrong when people have to revert to hacking hardware just to progress.

It's not even a question of dedication. I mean I love this game and have committed more hours than my wife would think is healthy. But when you need to grind like this, you have to question whether the game is correctly designed.
At some point bonus pay-for content is likely to arrive, but if you've already bored a large section of your audience to death, you lose your market.

Saying all that, I'll still continue playing, I want to get the 1,000 car trophy.

Haha thats neat if you were to grind the Dream Car Indy race over and over. Enduro would run out of fuel though :(

You're thinking too hard about this, get one of those drinking birds for the x button. :)

so dyou just grind the wall the whole way round?

I don't see it is cheating but I do think people are taking this too far and putting far too much energy into grinding.

It's a game. Play it for fun. As soon as it's not fun anymore stop playing it, don't spend time making devices to play it for you.

Just my opinion.

Maybe they made it hard to rank up towards the end so you wouldn't be able to beat the game in only a few weeks and you would have a long term goal thus making the game more enjoyable for a longer amount of time.

Did I just blow you mind? I think I did.

wow this is brilliant but it looks like it scratched up your controller. put a rubber cap on the end or an eraser head.

I'd say it's more an indictment of people. Why the need to rush to "progress"? What do you get? A number on a screen that says you are "Level 40"? A pretend virtual trophy?

A turbo controller is much less complicated but A for effort on that.

Clever. Does it actually work? You might wanna patent that before someone else jumps on it and makes millions. Call it the "iCheatGT5", assuming it works.

Not flaming, just being honest. *shrug*

I agree with this, but not the enjoyable longer part. I think it was a pretty stupid idea. They should've made the leveling more linear and not easy-ish til level 35 and then a giant wall. Cause the way they made it, you either have to do the LeMans 24hrs for a week, or do the same short races over and over and over for months. That isn't fun. It does show, however, that GT5 is lacking events to keep it fresh, which is where the seasonal events come in, I guess.
