So I'm looking into some new games I may be buying for I'm going to college next year. I may get my hands on a Macbook machine, but for now, the Dell has to do the job.

Games that I own and still play are COD: UO, FIA:GTR racing game, and Sins of a Solar Empire is planned to be purchased very soon. As you can see from these three games, I'm into first-person shooters, racing games and strategy games. I might want to wait for a new strategy game, but I can always check those games out and see which can be a potential new buy :)

My specs are:
- AMD Athlon TK-53 dual-core processor @ 1.70 Ghz RAM
- 1 Gb RAM
- ATI Radeon XPress Series 1150 (128 Mb RAM integrated video card)

I'm not looking for the latest stuff just to downgrade the graphics, but I'm looking for games that keep my interest for a longer period. Games that don't require much, but still offer a nice pair of graphics, games with excellent online experience.

Also, I'm a space game freak. I've played a demo once that was a first-person flying simulator in space. I thought it was named Starcraft, but it shows to be a strategy game. So if anyone remembers this name, I'd be very thankful 👍

Oh, and no newer GTR titles than GTR1. My PC handles this game smoothly, but not on max settings, so I think diving into GTR:Evo or GTR2 isn't going to help me getting up the framerate... Also, no Counterstrike 1.6.

The space simulator you're thinking about might be one of these:

X Beyond the Threat
X2
possibly X3

For first person shooters, look into these:

Unreal Tournament 2003
Half-Life 2

Racing games:
Live for Speed

I second Live For Speed
It doesnt require much in the way of PC power at all 👍

Yeah LFS will run on most computers and is an excellent racing sim. You could try Call of Duty 2. The Blizzard games like Warcraft 3, Diablo 2 and Starcraft are still real fun to play and probably cost next to nothing now. There's a lot of free to play MMORGs and FPSs out there that don't require a powerful rig to play.

I couldn't tell you how good they all are since I only play Combat Arms and Atlantica Online.

When browsing through those games I found the title I was looking for; Freelancer. Thanks for the help though! 👍

You could try Call of Duty 2.

Tried the demo once, and it lagged way too much. Could've been that the graphic settings were too high for my system as everything was looking really tasty, but for me COD:UO beats any other COD game. The multiplayer map on Foy is something I still play on a near daily basis :)

If you like space sims, try playing the original Descents.

Descent 3 was pretty awesome

Freespace was also ok

Freespace 2 was REALLY good

Which reminds me, Forsaken was also really good.

The main space combat sims that I remember being good are Freespace 2, Freelancer, X-Wing Alliance, I also liked X:Beyond the Frontier, X2 and X3 (which i already mentioned).

Definitely try Freespace 2 and the original X:Beyond the frontier.

Freespace 2 looked good, though its graphics weren't that impressive. Anyway, I'll be looking for some demos of X3: Reunion, Freelancer and Freespace 2. X3: Reunion looked really good, until I stumbled upon EVE: Trinity and I fell in love only to ralize this game will never, ever run smoothly on my machine :indiff:

I tried Freelancer today. The freedom was very nice to have, as were the missions you could choose. However, since the game is 6 years old, I wasn't too impressed with it overall so I think this won't be a candidate as a possible purchase.
