My sticky situation.

I'm in a state of mental crisis bacause I don't know what to do with my GT5 setup regarding a wheel and seat. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with using a DS3 for the time being. However, here are my options:

1. Buy a Playseat Evolution for my G25 which I'm not using because I have nothing to set it on. Hence why I'd like a Playseat.

2. Buy a G27 and Playseat Evo. I'd love nothing more than to have a G27. However, I will NOT purchase one unless it becomes fully supported. Sadly, I believe the chances of this happening are slim.

3. Buy a Thrustmaster T500RS and Playseat Evo. It looks pretty good, but unless I missed something, does it have a set release date? Who knows when we'll see it in stores.

Driving with a controller just doesn't do it for me anymore and I'd love to have a wheel setup. At first glance, I'm leaning towards option #3. However, not knowing when the wheel is going to be released, and not being a very patient person, I can't be certain. If the G27 becomes fully supported, my decision would be easy. But like I said, the chances are slim in my eyes.

Any recommendations on which option to go for would be appreciated and taken into consideration.

#1 and #3. Outlay is the same as #3, but you get to use a wheel sooner. Sell G25 on e-bay to fund Thrustmaster.

Job done, dilema over. Go race...
 
The Fanatec PWTS is a great wheel and works fine with GT5. Also works on the Xbox with Forza and of course the PC.

The Fanatec is quiet, has very strong force feedback and a good size. Of course the PWTS is a bit more expensive than the ones listed above but it you own or plan to get an Xbox it is the only good choice. the PWGT3RS is a bit cheaper, same quality but no Xbox support.
 
I'd probably stick with the G25 since it has a sequential shifter (the G27 does not), and buy a Obutto cockpit. The Obutto seems to be an excellent pit at a great price. I have heard the Playseat really becomes a pain, literally, in long racing sessions for a lot of folks.
 
If you already have a G25 I don't see the point in getting another wheel. Unless it's "well used" and falling to pieces stick with it!
 
Im gonna stick my neck out and probably get flamed for saying this but if I were you which im not obviously lol, Id steer (get it) :sly: well clear of anything made by thrustmaster ive had numerous peripherals made by them I wasn't impressed with the overall fit and finish and most certainly not impressed with how easy they were to break after 1day/1-2weeks/a month, But that's just my opinion mate

Well, the sequential shifter is useless to me since I would always be using either H-pattern or paddles.

How much is an Obutto cockpit? I've never even heard of it.
 
Hmm. The T500RS is released in less than 2 weeks, with a price of $600. Only paddle shifters for the time being. Concerning the G27, full support looks hopeless.

Option #3 looks the most promising, but it would run at almost $1,000.

Obutto oZone Cockpit

I've got one with a G27 and love it. I looked for almost a year for a cockpit before I made up my mind, and the versatility of the Obutto made the decision for me. I've had it for almost a year now and wouldn't race without one. My main racing game is iRacing, so I am usually in it for an hour or more per race, so I can tell you it is pretty comfortable.

QFT!

I started out with a Playseat EVO and G25 and now have a Fanatec PWTS and Obutto Ozone cockpit.

I can't say enough good things about the Obutto cockpit - The seat they use is 100X more comfortable and supportive and I can game for hours with no pain! (plus no center pole to get in the way of pedals)

I liked my G25 but no XBOX support, so Fanatec gets my $$$ for putting in the R&D to make their wheel PS3, XBOX and PC compatible. Plus the Fanatec wheels have tons of adjust-ability / customization so I was able to tweak my settings to tame the X1!
 
T500RS was released yesterday in Europe and will be released in 2 weeks in North America.
I also recommend the Obutto.
I have done research into seats, checking out dozens of options and I truly believe it is the best seat for the money.
Of course there are better ones at 10 times the cost!
But when I finally buy one, it will be an Obutto.
