OK here goes

I have just recently brought a another car/driving related game I'm not going to mention which one , and my only reason for purchase was to have a break from Gt for a bit and play some thing different and for no other reason but My thoughts are this

The game I have just purchased ( one week ago) is a floored nightmare to the point of it being to some point unplayable, wins not being payed out cars just disappearing after you have brought them leaving you with no car and no money, the game may save it may not I could go on for ever with the list of faults relating to this game but I have neither the time nor the inclination too

The concept of this game is great and if beta properly could and should be a top game, but I'm waffling here, my point is regards this game no real explanation as been given nor has any real information been passed on from the developers to the buyers regarding any of the bugs and or lack of insight relating to this game, leaving customers feeling very disappointed , my game now sits in the rack collecting dust .

This is where Gt5 now becomes a viewpoint or a comparison if you like.

Gt5 was a far from perfect game I thought personally, but instead of Kaz and the rest of the developing team keeping us in the dark they stepped up and took action , they have worked hard to sort issues they have kept there buying public as informed as possible regards the implement of patches and improvements and IMHO done there level best to put these in place and to my knowledge still doing so

And not only the above but they have implemented upgrades and free content to the game and no cost to the consumer, in no way have they just released a game and taken a step back from it , they are from the way I see it still working hard at polishing there product and trying to make it the best it can be

Well I for one would like to take this opportunity to say its appreciated and due to your commitment to your product and most of all your customers I will continual to support and buy future releases

If all game manufacturers and developers were as committed as Kaz and whom ever else is involved in the GT series game buying would be a lot less painful and grievances I feel would drop dramatically

Now I know not every one is going to share my views but please the grass really is not always greener over the other side, with the Gt series your buying more than just a game your buying into a passion, a passion not only felt by the consumers of this game but also and more importantly by the makers of it.

Why not mention which game? I, for one, am interested if I'm thinking of buying a game which is so buggy.

And I disagree with you about Kaz and the team - they did not do a good job and they have kept us in the dark from day one, the lack of communication about what they are and are not fixing has been disgusting. The number of stupid problems with GT5 (gear ratios until last week, no practise etc) is staggering.

Think about the gear ratios - I think we'd all have felt a lot better if they said "Hey! Yeah we dropped the ball on that one, we're re-enabling those sliders (?!) in about three months" rather just staring into the void with no indication that this GT1 feature will ever get fixed. OK maybe if they said three months I would have been pissed, but it would be better than nothing.

I think they got such a slapping for delaying for so long - eventually being forced to release an unfinished product - that they're become completely commitment-phobic.

So yeah, it's a great game, well done they ported GT4 to the PS3 eventually but it's been a shoddy performance all round and in my view they are just making amends. We'll talk about congratulations when they've finished putting in the basic GT1-4 features.

Yeah what game was it? Its not like your going to take away sales for GT5 if you mention it here. We all own GT5 already.

It's not just about committment, it's about resources. Polyphony Digital is a company financially backed by Sony. The entire PD team has one task... to work on Gran Turismo. It is the ONLY game they produce. It's also Playstation Exclusive, which means PD doesn't have to worry about porting the game to other platforms.

These other racing games we are comparing GT5 to are mostly 3rd party games. These 3rd party developers have less resources and smaller staff working on developing these titles because the company also focuses on developing more than just one game at a time. 3rd party developers also typically have to commit resources to cross-platform development to make sure it's portable on the big 2 and possibly the Wii.

From what I have heard, it is most likely Test Drive Unlimited 2. That game shipped in such bad shape that I am surprised there hasn't been talk of a class action lawsuit. Game breaking and crippling bugs, corrupted saves, and rumors of saves for other games being corrupted or deleted have been with TDU2 since launch. They released a pack of DLC cars as an apology, but all in all it has been a shameful display. My website received a free copy and refused to review it until the game is fixed. No one is willing to risk bricking their system over such a mediocre title.

I don't know what GT4 you played, but GT5 is pretty far from the GT4 I know in every respect except for the quality of standard cars.

So you're saying that a small company deserves higher ratings because they couldn't afford to develop a proper game?
But I agree in a way, only a company like PD who has a secure backup from Sony could spend years and years on developing a game. I also think that it's their unique position that enables them to "not only do it for the money", i.e. to release additional content and upgrades for free. Because they are not only doing it in the interest of their own company, they're doing it in the interest of Sony and the PS3 to make it a more popular console. Cross console developers doesn't get the same support, their "only interest" is to help their own company and so they charge you for any additional content. Well, there's a billion exceptions, but in general...

And yeah, overall I think the communication could have been better. On the other hand you don't expect an author to reveal the plot of the novel he is writing, or a painter to unveil parts of his painting several months before it is complete. GT5 is a product of course, but it also has artistic qualities that at least for me makes it totally fine to not know everything about every little future update.

Fast menus, the gear ratios, practise & quali sessions, properly structured and lengthy career, the ability to alter the setup of your car without reloading a race, I'm

Are you talking about GT5 still? You can do all that in GT5...

For starters, does Kaz and the Team owe us anything??

The game is freakin' huge and I'm sure it is an almighty undertaking. I enjoy the game as it is, and every update is an improvement. That is the beauty of the PS3. You can do updates online. Years ago, the game stayed as it was when you bought it.

The advancement of technology has come so far that everything is much more complex. Be thankful for what we DO GET, not what we don't.

But, as in our 2011 culture, everyone wants everything all of the time. Just enjoy the damn game and be satisfied.

I bought another game as well a while back....NFS something or another.....compared to GT5, it sucked.

You are right there, GT was always some kind of art, but compared to the art you mentioned GT was supposed (at least for me) to be finished as soon as you buy the game in the store. Of course there are always some things you can/should add or improve in a game, and I'm damn gratefull that they do that for free, but never the less leaving some parts out of the game and not telling us when they are implemented is not very profesional. What's so hard on telling us: "Ok, we are working now on this and that part and in 2-100 weeks you can expect that it'll be working".

For starters, does Kaz and the Team owe us anything??
You can be damn sure about that, we all bought the game and so they own us all the features they promised us and advertised to us. Until now it's just as you buy a real car and it comes without an engine.

Years ago I would have returned the game and I would have demanded my money back. So yes, online updates are a real improvement

The advancement of technology has come so far that everything is much more complex. Be thankful for what we DO GET, not what we don't.

I'm thankful for everythink I get in addition to things i buy. For all things I buy I'm expecting to get those, not less...

But, as in our 2011 culture, everyone wants everything all of the time. Just enjoy the damn game and be satisfied.

As I said before, if PD would have delivered everything they've promised we would all be satisfied. And comparing a game that sucks to a game which is good, but not what was promised is like comparing a burned meal (the game that sucks) to a good meal, but not the one which was ordered (GT5).

Please don't misunderstand me, I love the GT series since GT1, and GT5 is basically a good game. But never the less not all the featurs which are advertised are useable until now and the career mode is just a bad joke.

Graphic is top (at least the premiums). Phisics are great (as ever). Rest sucks

Right, ive read about enough from you hypocrites. I've checked profiles, and that combined with the fact that you are gtplanet members means you like GT and play GT5.

I'm curious, When I buy a game that sucks and didn't live up to expectations, I take it back. End of. I don't whinge and moan, sitting around, waiting for updates I feel I am owed. Do you drive around, levelling up, whilst thinking to yourself "this game sucks, this game sucks"????? If so, get over it! Move on, leave gt5 to those of us who appreciate the huge effort put into it.

Well if by chance you talk about my post, you should read it again. I never said that the whole game sucks, on the contrary, I said it's a good game, but not what they promised.
And no, i don't drive around and level up and think this game sucks, but that's mainly because I avoid playing the career mode because the career mode sucks. However there's still a rather playable online mode. And yes, without the online mode I would have definitely retourned the game and waited some time until it is what they have promised.

Move on, leave gt5 to those of us who appreciate the huge effort put into it.
Well, I know this is quite daring but I don't think and I don't see any huge effort which was put into this game. Of course, modelling all the premiums was a huge effort, but this effort was concentrated on a small part off the game which is not very important. I would give up all the premium cars for a decent career mode and all the other features which they had in previous GT games.

Wasn't quoting your post in particular, just getting fed ip of reading the same complaints over again.

I urge all readers to do following: try comparing gt5 to other games, not the game you think it should be, because that's just hypothetical. Let's take cod, mgs, many others, how long was the campaign? A couple of days max? Yet they are all great games, and they remain unchanged from the day of release.

I'm not saying gt5 is perfect, there is a lot I would change personally, but I think they deserve a lot of credit for trying to rectify problems/criticisms

So the OP'er wrote that bollocks and then never posted again?! I think all of what he said was lies. No game would be as buggy as what he said it was! Not a chance!

Mmm nope you can't do any of that except, now, the gear ratios. I mean practice sessions before a race - ie. in a championship, not the separate practice mode. Also if you quit a race you go to the results screen without the option to try again. I found that incredibly frustrating when I was doing A-spec because I would like to try and set up my car so I can have a competitive race, but didn't feel like reloading the track for every setup change.

You do realise that something can be a good while still being a massive let down. This happens all the time - films, music and in this case, video games. It really isn't a hard concept to understand.

COD, MGS, hell let's throw in some other first person shooters (?!) - Gears of War, GRAW etc. These games have short campaigns because it takes a massive effort to painstakingly design and produce all the levels, cut scenes, dialogues and the rest. Short campaigns in FPSs is kinda acceptable. In GT, it would have taken them no time at all to compile some series & championships. The biggest effort would have been creating the artwork for the picture - those pictures I could photoshop up in a couple of hours. This argument is completely invalid.

Blablabla...2011 culture?? I remember waiting 3 years for this game to come. Talk about wanting everything all of the time. I bought my PS3 just for that game...Fortunately other companies have stepped up and made my PS3 something else than dead weight, as i watched DVD and streamed netflix..but if it was for Kaz and Sony, my PS3 would still be untouched until last december.

So i waited and got a half ass game with so many stupid mistakes that it makes you think it's a beta version of GT1. Sure it looks amazing (for 20% of the cars) and the driving is great but there are so much things that are not well thought that it is going to take months to update it. ANd seeing how they DO NOT communicate with us, it will be the same frustration as before the game was released..

I have not posted simply because my little boy woke unwell and I have only just got him back off to sleep

I do not tell lies so please don't judge me by your own standards

The game I was referring to was indeed TDU2 and if you do not believe me try logging on the there forum and judge for your self

And I stand by what I wrote GT5 is a good game I never once said it could not be better, and my point was the developers of this game have continued to make it better a thing a lot of other developers don`t bother with once it is in the market place.

Some of you people make me laugh, if the game is that bad why are you still playing this game why are you still whinning on these forums why have you not px`d it for a game that is better and moved your self over to that games forum.

I'm the same, my investment in this single game (PS3, wheel etc) runs up to about £750, so I was pretty hacked off when after 5 years it wasn't God's gift to racing, and in fact it contained a lot of really pretty basic errors & omissions. Also it annoys me to think they spent all this time meticulously detailing all the premium cars, when in reality I spend maybe 5% of my time in GT with actual cars on-screen, racing around boring and plain environments. I would have much preferred some really lush scenery like GT4 and Forza 3.
