I went to Perth on the weekend for a speedway meet. Want to hear about it? I don't care, I'm gonna tell you anyway.
Thursday
Got a good night's sleep Wednesday night, and got up at about 10 AM to finish some TAFE/School stuff, then packed.
Left home at about 4:30PM.
Had about 50,000 piss stops.
Friday
Arrived in Perth at about 5:30AM. Found our accomodation, shot the **** for a few hours then went to a workshop to put the racecar on the dyno tune.
We were there for about 4 hours, getting the engine juuust right. It's the first time I've been to the dyno, so I was pretty impressed with the noise levels. The car sounded bloody excellent, let me tell you (for a Fr0d...
)
Anyway, we finished at the dyno, then headed back to a mate's place (mate of the bloke I got a ride with) to put the car on the scales. The scales are actually 4 different scales - one under each wheel - that is hooked into a central unit. What we were aiming for it more weight in the left rear compared to the right rear, and the front end about even in weight. To manage this we played with the adjustable suspension springs. The racetrack is a dirt oval and the cars go anti-clockwise.
Saturday
Woke up mid-morning, packed up the racecar.
Halfway through packing up a cute little American stripper who live next door to the bloke we stayed with appeared - in a bikini top. I had a good perv. Got noticed, too.
Finished packing up the car. Drove to the other place we stayed at (one place Friday night, one Saturday night) and thrashed out the route to the race track. Sat around and shot the **** for a few hours, then made our way out to the track.
We unloaded the car then headed for a look around. I got some good pics on the digicam that I will load soon.
There were all these divisions of cars that I've never seen race before, so it was pretty good.
I saw one AMAZINGLY proportioned blonde chick in grid-girl clothing - flouro orange, tight-fitting (does it occur to you that everything to do with grrls is hyphoned?), extremely-short, figure-hugging (see?) clothing. I was going to get a photo of her, but wussed out at the last second. Go on. Make fun of me now. Then I thought, "hey, who gives a **** if I look like a clown in front of a chick I don't know?", so I went to find her, but couldn't. It was pretty cold, so I guess she put some clothes on.
I saw some very nice chicks later on in the night, and was going to get those on film too, but the digicam don't work too well in the dark (
) so it wasn't worth it. Had a good perv though. Got noticed then too. Got waved at by one of them, which was quite nice. I think two of them were lesbians, because one was sitting on the other's lap. If they really were or not I don't know, maybe they were putting on a show...
Yes, I did see the racing. The bloke I got a ride with came in 4th in the feature, so that wasn't TOO bad, just one place out of the elusive podium.
Went back to the house and sat in the spa drinking for about an hour, so that wasn't a bad end to the night.
Sunday
Packed up. Drove home.
Does it seem that the return journey is ALWAYS shorter than the down journey?
Anyway, that's the trip in detail. I'll fire up the digicam and provide some pics for your enjoyment.
Race report:
We arrived at the track around 4:00PM, unloaded the race car and went for a look around. Saw some nice cars that we've only seen in videos before.
The bloke I got a ride with, his first race was the 3rd of the evening. He went out about 6th I think, finished around 6th or 7th. I'm sure he would've finished higher, but his car has a problem with mud sticking under the wheel arches and causing the car to become really hard to control, and it also sends the temperature right up. So he had to slow right down and trundle along.
His second race wasn't much better. The car barged into some of the corners (where the thing just doesn't want to turn at all, no matter what you do) but his speed was good. He finished 5th.
The last race (there's 3 races for his division, which is Modifieds) was pretty good. He passed some cars, and some didn't finish, but overall 4th, which isn't a bad result.
As for the rest of the night, there was some good racing all round, and it was always tight and fast. The sprintcars (outlaws) were the best, and put on a great final.
There was a demolition derby at the end of the night, but it was really soft - all the cars braked or went around other cars whenever there was a T-bone opportunity, and didn't put on a good performance at all.
But apart from that it was a good night.
HAPPY FLERBIZKY?!
