My tyres are just spinning out on NASCAR series

So frustrating. Dominated Indy, but cannot get anywhere on the road course events, because no matter how hard I try, the car ends up slipping down into 1st gear and then its 'all smoke and no go!'.

I tried the setup link that I found when I searched the forums here, but although it handles better, the problem with the tyres in 1st gear remains.

Anyone got any suggestions - please!

Is this A or B spec??

Also, are you using manual or automatic??

When you say it's slipping into 1st gear, I'm presuming you are using automatic, as using a manual it wlll only change gear when you want it to.

Does this slip happen with other cars or is it only with the NASCAR??

Try using less throttle aswell, I have a ''heavy right foot'' and this also causes me problems with powerful cars in low gears. By not applying 100% throttle, less power is transmitted to the wheels and the tyres are more likely to grip.

Its A-Spec and I'm an auto gearbox driver. Terrible, I know, but its just always been a habit that I've never got out of. Maybe I should switch to manual, even just for this series?

The problem only ever happens with the Nascar, nothing else either.

Yeah, on all the previous GT's I've raced both manual and automatic, but for this GT5 I've just stuck to manual.

It's not too bad to make the change, just don't try and run before you can walk, try something easy first, like a 5 speed car at a track that doesn't require loads of changes, like High Speed Ring, then gradually increase it. Move to a 6 speed car, then 7, then move to a harder track.

It won't be long before manual starts to feel natural and you will find yourself comfortable with it and seeing the benefits in terms of lap times and car control.

👍

The standard NASCAR stock car suspension set up in the game is very stiff. I don't know if they're supposed to be like that. Try softer settings. Remember that those cars have a rear live axle.

I didnt expect to like the NASCARs but really enjoy racing them on proper tracks. The 'Ring Seasonal Event was great fun! Just leave them in 2nd gear for slow corners if youre having issues, more than enough torque to pull you out of a corner.
