My wheel wont reverse

Ok, I have just gotten a g27 racing wheel for Christmas. I've been playing GT5 since and im stuck on this turn and I hit a wall straight on and I realise.I couldn't get it in to reverse.So is there anything i can do to get it in reverse?

Triangle is reverse. Top button on your shifter.

Or you can push the shifter down and move it to the bottom right.

Yeah, basically just keep it pushed down and take sixth gear.

In case what the above said was confusing, Push the stick down towards the floor and shift into 6th gear. That is reverse. Also the upper most black button on the shifter in what should be the triangle buttons place is reverse also.
