Mysterious Downshifting issues in game

Hi All,

I'm facing a weird problem in the game and would gladly appreciate some feedback.

Has there ever been a bug with downshift in the game?
I clearly recall downshifting as per normal just yesterday, but it's not working at all today.

For example, normally when a person downshifts a gear, speed is lost.

But what I am experiencing in my case is

a)no loss of speed
b)the accelerator is shown to be fully pressed as displayed in the HUD. But VERY CLEARLY, I've taken my foot off the pedal.

C)I have to press my brake for a few secs before the accelerator is shown to be no longer being depressed.

Initially, I thought my brand new wheel is faulty. However, I tried it using a pad and the same problem occurs!

Have you disconnected the steering wheel completely before trying with the pad?
If not the pedals could still be causing it.
 
That's the thing.
I've disconnected the Wheel...used only the pad, rebooted the machine etc etc etc.

It's still there. WTF!!!!! I'm totally lost now.
Another thing I clearly remembered was DL-ing a new PS3 firmware before this downshifting problem began....*grumble grumble*.
Anyone else facing this issue? I certainly hope I'm not the lone individual out there for this problem. I cannot be that 'unique'!
 
Not just you, I've found no way to fix it...
 
Am I supposed to take it everyone is facing the same problem as me?

Hmm, wierd...
Maybe try fully depressing the throttle then releasing it, it's what I have to do on the pc sometimes.
 
I haven't had this problem yet.... Sure hope I don't it sounds like it would destroy GT for me!
 
I took my game over to my brother's PS3 and tried it there...came up with the same problem using his Pad....sigh.
Fully depressing the throttle doesn't work too.
 
I had a small prob with downshifting. Using the buttons on back of DFP wheel, if I downshift as fast as I can (flickering the button) coming into a corner it will not work....as if I down shifted so fast that it could not even register it. It just stays in high gear and I have to re-downshift (slower flickers) to get it to work. Slowing down on downshifting has resolved my downshifting delema.

what about using the controller? or is the "pad" the controller?
 
Ah, the pad is the controller. rmk700's description matches mine perfectly.
So too is his solution to how I fixed my problem. Kinda bleh whenever I play the game but I take it as a horrible bug with my software and just pray to never see it in GT5.
