As the title barely states, I'm looking for any info that could help me to choose the right car for this event.

I do know not many of us reached A-spec level 40 yet, but B-spec 40 players might help since the car entry is the same, so I expect the data to be roughly identical for both modes.

Now here are my questions:

-Who's the rabbit?
-Approximately, what's his best lap time on dry?
-Approximately, what's his best lap time on wet?
-Is he still the rabbit on wet? If not, who's the new rabbit and what are his lap times?
-What's his pitstop frequency on dry/wet?
-On a totally dry weather race, how many laps did he achieved?

Any help to fill in the gaps would really be much appreciated. :)

Thanks!

In many races the laptimes in B-Spec are a lot slower than in A-Spec. Might be the case here too.

Probably, but at this point I'd just be glad to know the B-spec times, even if not the same than A-spec. :sly:

Whats the rabbit

Your fastest opponent.

Hello SmokingCones,

I have some metrics for you.

I've just begun the A-spec 24h nurburgring; it's my last feat for golding everything possible in GT5.

Weather: Dry overcast day

Bobs for my race (I'm sure this changes all the time):
McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97
R390 GT1 Race Car '98
R8 LMS Race Car '09
R10 TDI Race Car '06
XJ220LM Race Car
Speed 8 Race Car '03
787B Race Car '91
R8 LMS Race Car (Team PlayStation) '0...
Storm V12 Race Car '99
R8 Race Car '01
GT by Citroen Race Car

The rabbit (as you call him): R8 Race Car '01

Metrics for rabbit: 5 completed laps in 42 minutes (includes pit stop at end of lap 4)

So in 24h, I expect the rabbit to complete about 171 laps...or rather, I must complete more than 171 laps within 24 hours to win.

I hope this helps.

Whats the rabbit

A rabbit car, is not just the fastest car, but a car that is seems to be mismatched in performance with the main pack of cars, sometime in races getting out a head of the other cars by many seconds. It forces you to setup up your car towards the rabbit and not the main pack of cars.

this might have been answered but can you stop and save the race, than continue another time?

No u can't save then resume. It's called endurance for a reason

You can pause and then resume later, but the console has to stay on the whole time.

Okay, but you stated 42 minutes for 5 laps + a pitstop every 4 laps. So I assume I have to add time for an extra pitstop every 20 laps to get this accurate, right?

I hope this helps.

Definitely. Based upon your metrics, I'm almost certain I can win the race with my favorite car :D

Thanks Mr. Platinum!

Hmm, I guess you could, but it will never be accurate.

For more accuracy you could track the lap 1 time (because of the start), know what an average rabbit lap time is, factor in all rabbit pit stops, and factor in time lost when the rabbit begins to catch and lap the pack and thus lose time in passing cars.

Quick and dirty math is probably good enough for our purposes though. I'm now at 1h41m race time with the rabbit (and I) at 12 laps, which still point to roughly 171 laps. The rabbit averages (at this point) 8.41 minutes per lap, so you could use this as a guide to your car selection.

Side note: you may wonder why I am not way ahead of the rabbit? While I am using the x2010 prototype which is sick fast, and I do pause the game at night (and soon I have to go to work), when all is in control and I get ahead by a margin of laps I then park the car on the side of the road (use the handbrake to lock in position), and let the race go on thus passing time. Knowing (roughly) the rabbit time and the laps ahead, I estimate how long I can walk away from the PS3. Even with this time-saver it took me 4 real-time days to complete the lemans 24h.

I did the 24h and I was able to do 174 laps in just over 17 hours

The rabbit is the fastest car. But it is not necessarily mismatched with the competition. The rabbit is designed to make the competition question their racing strategy.

For example: say a team uses 3 mercedes. Merc1 merc2 and merc3. Merc1 at the beginning will drive much more aggressively right from the beginning. While merc2 and merc3 stay with the pack. Merc1 will gain a lead quickly but also require tires and fuel more often.

It is up to the other teams to decide if they want to pursue the rabbit or stay with the pack. The rabbit will most likely break down, crash, lose because of too many pit stops, etc but there is the chance he could win. I don't think gt5 has ai like this.
