Nürburgring GP Course - Old Concept Layout

I found this very interessting picture of a concept layout for the GP track before it was build. Quite different...

At the hairpin (top right) you can make out the connection to the Nordschleife.

I took the screenshot from a german TV coverage of the Rings history.


Looks quite a bit like your average Tilke track to me *g*
 
Interesting variety of corners, but it just looks like a very awkward go-kart track to me.
 
Any idea what year this is from?
 
I wonder how long that proposed Südschleife would have been.
 
The Südschleife actually existed until they started to work on the GP course.
A lot of it is still there. Converted into regular roads, or abandoned parts in the woods surrounding the GP course.
 
I'd say the 4th is the best but with first corner from the 5th version as it looks as silly in the 4th picture as it does today.
 
I wonder how all of those alternative layouts mesh with the contour of the land, preferably from their era
