Hi O.o

Is there a newbie hi thread? cause I couldn't find it...
I just started playing this game, using DS2 rite now and not really financially ready to invest in a wheel :(

I want to drift with an FD (hopefully with all cars XD) but rite now I am having fun drifting with a Cappcino :D

I have read all the stickies and wanna extend my thanks to everyone who have composed those, really helped me along :D

I can't seem to find the thread about RR drifting (since the search function prevents me from searching RR), is that possible? And also, I can't find any newbie demo videos, (like tutorials) can anyone point me in the right direction ?^^;;

I'm not sure there'd be any RR drifting tutorials as- A. there's not many of them in the game, and B. RR cars tend to be hard to drift unless they're high-powered (such as the RUF Yellow Bird) because having the engine in the back makes the rear wheels stick like glue under power.

As for videos, I'm sure there was some in a tutorial somewhere...

Hello and welcome to GTP. Alot of us guys can be pretty unwelcoming at times when it comes too new guys. But we're not really that bad.

But i must warn, before you decide to make a thread in the forum, think to yourself

1. Is there a suitable cause for the making of this thread

2. have i done an extensive search on what i want/need to know.

3. what will the other guys think when i do so.

Seems pretty pointless to ask yourself these questions, when all you want is a bit of guidence and information i know...but for some reason it's just the way it is.

Now more to the point.

This will give you alot of mumbo jumbo regarding GT4 physics etc... but theres alot of useful information in there, with a few demo vids. (large update to it coming soon).

Before you ask for settings, ill do the hard work for you. Here there is a massive amount of awesome settings for almost any car.

This is all the information you might need. Well all the info i can think of.

Good luck!

I find the opposite, try the yellow bird (ctr) in a tarmac rally, it loves to slide around. They do plant like crazy coming out of corners but under braking the rear steps out without any provocation.

Thanks ^^ but I already read all that :P My biggest quesiton was RR drifting since I wanna see if its possible to slide the yellow bird around :D but it seems my speculation was correct...the weight of the engine makes it extremely hard..

But certanly not impossible... As a meter of fact RUF Yellow Bird drifts beautifully when you get used to it... For me it's good even stock with N1 tyres...

The Alpine A310 is a RR, but drifts even on straights :ouch:

I first used the Alpine A310 to do the Alpine one-make race (dealership) using Duck's settings (from his stickied workshop in settings) Apart from his settings, I used stage 2 NA tuning & racing medium tires. Now Duck normally posts Grip settings, so I was very surprised by the behaviour of this car.

from the top of my head (and likely not exact) I'd say the settings I used brought me to about 205hp & 860kg weight. So not overpowering. It does tend to get a bit tail happy, but I hadn't noticed much of that in the straights. But the corners! Now those were fun! Especially once I took a few different turns and got used to the feel of the car.

As for myself, I plan to master the Alpine before I move up to the RUF, just to get well acquantied with the idiosyncracies of an RR drive as compared to FR or MR.

believe it or not, I'm still to try out a RUF in GT4... either way, apart from the Fiat 500s, the Alpine was my first taste of RR in GT4... whoa!

I left it in the garage for a while, and finally gave it a try. It's pretty hard to contorl, especially on tracks like Infineon, but once you can get a bit of control, it's a really fun car.

Not all low power RR cars are hard to drift. Check out my first drifting video in my gallery on the drift video board. My Fiat 500L can drift amazingly well for an 83 hp tiny RR car. They are hard to drift yes, but once you get the rear to break traction, the extra weight on the rear end allows for some impressive drifts.

Dude, I bet you can make the Model T drift
