Similar to the "Guess that track" thread, I've decided to start this "Name that crash" thread. Someone posts a picture of a crash and the first person to correctly identify the driver(s) of the crashing car(s) gets to post the next picture. Any additional information (e.g. year, name of the car, name of the circuit, causes/results of the accident) is welcome. Pictures can be from any form of motorsport.

Please refrain from posting any fatal accidents or accidents which resulted in serious injuries to drivers, marshals or spectators.

I'm just about to PM GilesGuthrie about this thread to see if it's within the rules of the forum, but since he's offline just now I'll start it anyway and we'll see what happens.

I don't think a thread like this has already been started, but if it has, please link me to it and I'll close this one.

So, let's start with something easy.

This is the sort of thread that can go either way. But it could be quite interesting, and a good test of member knowledge. So we'll proceed for now.

You must obey amp88's rules above, otherwise it's off to the Recycle Bin.

Ok, thanks 👍

And the start is Martin Brundle in the Jordan. It's turn 3, lap 1, at the Australian Grand Prix in 1996.

This spawned my favourite ever motorsport headline. Takers?

Diniz in the Oven.

Pedro Diniz driving a Ligier, 1996 Argentinean GP, caused by a faulty fuel seal valve thing.

Heh, Mazda 626 at some british track, haha.

Oh, and it flipped too. :p

Well, since I'm 99% I'm correct and TheCracker hasn't replied yet, I'll post up the next one.

I'm just going to bed, so anyone who's certain they have the right answer (or it's verified as the correct answer) can carry on and post the next one.

Not sure what TheCracker was doing, but I'd gone to bed by then :D

Yes, it was Matt Neal at Silverstone, and yes, I'm sure that's Derek Warrick at Monza 1990.

Your go, FireEmblem62.

:odd: ...I'm sure at some point i will post in this thread, and hopefully get an answer correct so i can post my own 'question' for people to ponder - but i haven't as of yet!... :odd:

Sorry, I was quite tired at that point and I never checked who it was that posted :)

And yes, of course, it's Derek Warwick.

OUCH. Looks like a Cossie Escort vs. a Mercedes 190. I think i've seen that wreck in a video, didn't one catch on fire?

Its a 1988 DTM Sierra Rs500 Driven by Armin Hahne, i don't know where or who was driving the Merc 190E - Roland Asch?

As it's been a few days since the last post was made, I'll start it off again (see attachments)

Gaivao Goncalo, at Braga in Portugal during the final race.

That's what my (none-existant) German skills told me.
