Yesterday I saw that the newest member was called "Net Nazi". Many people would view this as either rascist or anti-semetic, but as far as I know it doesn't break any official GTP rules. I just want to know from the moderators what is acceptable as a username.

Can anyone clarify this matter please?:confused:

Would someone please clarify this (Moderators/Supermoderators/Admin).

If other members do find the username Net Nazi either rascist or anti-semetic, then I guess this account should be banned then.

If this should be one of my last posts, I have only one thing to say.

I have had a great honor serving the community of GTP by helping users become better users.
 
I was expecting you to be one of those that never post much anyway.
I don't feel to concerned about the name, even though several relatives from the Czech Republic were killed by them and my grandmother was made a forced labourer in Ukraine by them.

Why did you choose the name, out of interest?
 

To be honest,

It was sort of a 'spin-off' from the Soup Nazi from the prime time show Seinfield.

Since he was such a Nazi about soup, I thought I might have been such a Nazi about forums and how clueless members should be corrected about thier mistakes and use the functions of the all mighty Search button.

If other members should find my self and user name to be offensive in any way possible, please let your voice be heard so GTP shall never hear of the Net Nazi ever again.
 
That explains a lot. Anyone else who objects can post here, I guess. To get the moderators views, I'd suggest checking by private messaging neon_duke or jordan.
 
Names with offensive words in them will be banned on sight. Also, names that refer to other users will be banned on site.

Otherwise, in the event of a questionable name, we would investigate said user's behaviour, and take a view on it in the normal way.
 
Yes, "Net Nazi" is OK. If the word "Nazi" was used in other ways, I would seriously question it, but I believe our new member is fine.

Hey, I am jewish and personnally it does not bother me.
 
It is interesting that the username "Net Nazi" doesnt bother me either (I am also Jewish), but a swastika in the avatar would.

Either way, Net Nazi (the chap posting above me...above Turbo that is) seems to be a decent enough guy, and the name merely an unfortunate connection to something totally unrelated to him.

Except for Bollocks #999 - but he's a decent guy anyway.
