Busch said his ultimate ambitions may include racing in the international open-wheel series. “We'll see how good I test, first,” Busch said. “We'll see if my neck can withstand the g-forces of the braking and everything. I wouldn't mind it. If I can do it and I'm good at it then I'll give it a shot and try it. It seems as though there racing isn't all that great — they kind of get stuck in line and the aero takes over everything.”

Who would Busch drive for? He seemed to indicate that if we were to go into F-1 it might not be with his current brand. “Toyota is not necessarily one of those companies at the moment that is like Ferrari or McLaren or Renault was a couple years ago,” Busch said. “It would take — I don't think it is just a driver to put in the seat to make it go. You need a little bit more of a car.”

Haha I love how down to earth he is. Notice how he called the manufacturers "companies" I like this guy.

His massive car control has caught the eye of Toyota, so they offered him the test just to see if anything is there in a Grand Prix car around a circuit, always looking for the next big thing.

Anyways, I don't think he will do too great in the test and he won't get offered further testing because he's raced ovals 99% of his life. I'm sure he could have made it with his massive car control skills IF he had run openwheel cars in the past. He just lacks the experience.

Formula 1 is not like NASCAR where you can be off the pace at first and spend a year or two learning the tracks and cars before the team expects results from you. F1 expects results right away, or you can be gone within a year and replaced by one of the thousands of talented openwheelers looking for a ride in F1.

If he turns heads I would be pleasently surprised, but I don't have my hopes up. As we've seen with Montoya, if you're great in one discipline it doesn't mean you will be in another. Valentino Rossi is the king of 2 wheel racing, but didn't test too well with Ferrari

The author's grammar sucks.

Anyway, I think it's kind of ironic that he's saying that F1 cars get stuck in line and aero takes over everything.

I think that even if he were to make it, he would shoot his mouth off faster than Scott Speed...

He would certainly be overbraking to start, but if he adapts, he could actually be faster than some of the backmarkers, given that he would be trying more to push the limits of his car as he does in NASCAR.

It would be entertaining to see an Alonso / Busch battle. :scared:

I'm sure he'll 'drive' the car that's for, how well is another story. :)

he's one of the best American drivers right now. im not surprised he's getting this kind of opportunity

His personality means that this will be little more than a test drive. Kyle Bush is a talented driver, but is very arrogant and stubborn.

He's like Alsonso is now, but without the benefit of twin championships to make such behavior tolerable. Kyle has a very nasty tendency to complain to everyone who will listen when things don't go his way, he often does so in a way that makes it sound like it is never his fault, and he gets angry way too easy (especially considering what sport he is in). He is far better than his brother is, but hardly a model for an F1 driver to be.

thats it? if the only reason why he dosen't qualify as an F1 driver is because he gets angry and complains when things don't go his way, then he's in better shape than i thought

such behavior should be tolerable when he's winning races and getting podiums left and right

Which is why it's acceptable for Alonso because that's exactly what he has been doing for the last 3 years, winning races and getting podiums left and right. Whether Kyle Busch is able to do the same thing is another story.

well either way hes teting the car but he wont be able to be a driver in F1 for at least a fw years at the least if he does try to go down that road. i just dont see the FIA seeing nascar as an entry into F1 and give him a licenses. he would have to spend a few rounds in a lower formula and hed have to be at the top in that class. would he be able to make a leap from oval racing to road racing in a formula car is the question. so he can test out the car all he wants but thats the closest he would get to F1
