Haha I love how down to earth he is. Notice how he called the manufacturers "companies"
I like this guy.
His massive car control has caught the eye of Toyota, so they offered him the test just to see if anything is there in a Grand Prix car around a circuit, always looking for the next big thing.
Anyways, I don't think he will do too great in the test and he won't get offered further testing because he's raced ovals 99% of his life. I'm sure he could have made it with his massive car control skills IF he had run openwheel cars in the past. He just lacks the experience.
Formula 1 is not like NASCAR where you can be off the pace at first and spend a year or two learning the tracks and cars before the team expects results from you. F1 expects results right away, or you can be gone within a year and replaced by one of the thousands of talented openwheelers looking for a ride in F1.
If he turns heads I would be pleasently surprised, but I don't have my hopes up. As we've seen with Montoya, if you're great in one discipline it doesn't mean you will be in another. Valentino Rossi is the king of 2 wheel racing, but didn't test too well with Ferrari
Busch said his ultimate ambitions may include racing in the international open-wheel series. “We'll see how good I test, first,” Busch said. “We'll see if my neck can withstand the g-forces of the braking and everything. I wouldn't mind it. If I can do it and I'm good at it then I'll give it a shot and try it. It seems as though there racing isn't all that great — they kind of get stuck in line and the aero takes over everything.”
Who would Busch drive for? He seemed to indicate that if we were to go into F-1 it might not be with his current brand. “Toyota is not necessarily one of those companies at the moment that is like Ferrari or McLaren or Renault was a couple years ago,” Busch said. “It would take — I don't think it is just a driver to put in the seat to make it go. You need a little bit more of a car.”
