The INFAMOUS Daytona...

Damn I can't get first no matter what... I was wondering, is it possible to use the Realtime Adjustments to put the effin' ASM off?

If not, does anyone got a 2.0Spec tuning setup that actually works in A-Spec?

Thanks a lot for any contributions :)

Its all about drafting, ensure your trans is set up to peak while blasting past the competition when drafting. Check your downforce too. Too much will slow you down. Try the stock settings first, as all you are doing is ripping around the track. Then tweak from there. Sadly the ASM has to be on.

The ASM brings me down to something like 165mph-170mph, so the AI crush me in every corners...

ASM shouldn't be slowing you down that much. Double check and make sure Traction Control is OFF.

I swear I turned everything (everything I could) OFF. So my bet is that TC was at off also.

Is ASM can be turned off by using Realtime Adjustment??

I know, the way I did it is try to stay lined up with the cars infront of you. If you see a car coming from behind, try to dip down and let him give you a bump. Its hell but kinda fun. The draft is the most important, you need to be in it the whole way. When you do win, it will be less than a second. Are you using a wheel or controller?

Ah, ok. I have a wheel so making the slightest adjustment to stay in the draft is more controlled at speed. The ASM does bog you down a bit so I suggest starting with the aero. Start with max then bring it down by 5 increments to see what happens. Don't forget the trans settings too.

Gotta give this a try.

Also with bringing the RA menu, just in case I can turn ASM off ^^

Does anyone know if the ABS even on '1' still simulates the traction control being on? I seem to recall something along those lines, but not sure if it has been fixed since I ran the races.

ASM use BRAKES not throttle. which is why it needed ABS to work.

Traction controll cuts the throttle to the wheels at set points nothing to do with brakes.

ABS is ON this means your ASM is ON.
NOTHING can be altered ever to turn ether off now.
But both rely on brake power... ( worked out were this is going yet.)

Yep Turn Down the Brake controller settings to 0 this reduces the brakes power, reducing ASM controll overall of the car... reducing slow down amount...

Altering the LSD of a Nascar can make a lot of difference as well.
Daytona is a realy bumpy ride raise the car height so you don't ground out...

Turn steering speed for DS3 down.
Then drive how you like......

So basically, turning the brakes' power to 0 will basically turn off ASM...

But how do you tune the LSD? I mean, what setting is it recommended to use?

Also don't you stay in 2nd until you overtake the leader at the end if I'm correct?
I usually mirror-drive the final half-lap. Simply jumping between racing lines to block, it's tricky but works great when the timing is mastered. Though the slingshot is easier, I suppose :dopey:

downforce 35/50
gears: 380 km/h
lsd: 60/60/15
Ride height 12/12 (I think)
springs: 18.5/18.5
Dampers front: 8/4
Dampers rear: 8/4
Anti roll bars: 4/4
Camber: 2.0/2.0
Toe: default
Brakes: 0/0

ASM is not disabled it still active but is alot weaker, speed is still reduced by automatic braking triggered by ASM. but as shown in video above speed never drops below 180MPH and most corners 190 MPH min.

If you go thorough the series and turn off everything at the beginning of the last road course then when you enter daytona its not on. Thats the way it used to be.

If you play Daytona only, try this. I have done it twice and work both times. Get behind first place and just push the whole time. Pass before finish line. Very rarley did any of the other cars try to pass. they would suck up but not go, if one did then i got behind that one.

If you get out front they just run you over and if your in the back your a pin ball.

Give it a try, Id like to see if other have an easy result.

I tried yesterday using GraphiteGB's tips.

Bought a brand new NASCAR, changed oil, and reduced the brake power to 0. I'Ve been able to take corners at 195-200mph each time, so this tip works!

Golded it first time.

Thanks a lot GraphiteGB

I found a simpler strategy to beat this race. When you are on long straightaways, take a very low line on the track. The AI cars are not very intelligent. They will stay on a high line and this will prevent them from drafting you. You eventually will build up a 1.5 second or more lead and win the race easily

Very nice tip mate, that has been the only thing stopping me from doing this championship

You made it look easy, but it isn't that easy with a hand-controller, at least in my case it wasn't.

I think that those stockers create a very wide draft window and you staying low isn't always enough for opponents running in the middle of the track to not catch your draft on the straight. That's just my observation. On turns, I'm not too sure about that. On some turns if I stay low I can pull away but that may be due to opponents tire scrub or game parameters for the opponents so they don't hit the walls on the banking. I can't wait to get a wheel for Nascar racing.

A hand controller just doesn't cut it for me when drafting on the banked regions. I usually need to stay rather low for drift leeway. I know there is definitely a higher sweet spot on the banked turns, but I just can't hold them that well with my thumb despite the steering sensitivity control settings. I've won the Daytona Speedway race many times by a slight margin, but many times I've smacked the wall and just gave up. (I even got a rollover trophy for doing that) Once I lose the lead pack, I'm done. Usually I'm always in front blocking cars left and right which is so much fun to hold the bitches at bay. Nascar racing is a lot of fun, for sure.

I'm holding out for the Fanatec 911 GT3 RS wheel and pedals, so I need to wait a bit longer to build up a real-life cash supply.
