Spent about an hour trying to win the 1st race but no matter how well I drive and how much effort I put into avoiding being spun out by the AI cars I've not done better than 6th.

The Nascar events in Gt6 just seem like a broken unfair mess to me. Anyone got some helpful tips for these events or should I just wait for PD to patch them?

I just adjusted my top speed settings so I had like 10mph advantage over the rest which should be enough to get you to the front and then you just need to be very effective at blocking

I've heard that in GT6 is now available R/A menu. In gt5 in this menu when you turned off (traction control i guess). The car was much faster than rest of the pack.

Rearch in options in button configuration if R/A menu is some were available and try to turn TC off.

I'm not a great driver but I did the Daytona event first time, no tweaks aside from the 70% power limiter.

Stay in the pack, don't make a break for it until the last lap, and don't allow the AI to be near the rear corners of your car, because when they get there you're as good as done.

The Daytona event with an untweaked NASCAR was one of the most enjoyable events in the game for me.

I agree, I also did it with untweaked car and it was amazing. The pack was so tight that when the race finished, the 16th car finished only one second later than the first one (me). Replay was also cool to watch.

Don't overtake on the high side coming out of 4. Or just don't go high around them. They drift back up to get the draft (programmed that way), but they do it quickly, so they end up tagging you in just the wrong place.

This race annoyed me too. I got so angry at AI I tried taking out the leader to cause a crash but the AI here has different physics than you do: they are immune to nearly everything you can throw at them. I ove how you can be spin-out facing backwards and the pack of AI loses no speed and keep pushing you like you're not there until you end up flipping through the air like a leaf in the wind. :boggled:

SOLUTION TO WIN RACE:
I ended up partnering up with the lead AI. Get into 2nd place and push the leader. Keep pushing him in the corners when the AI normally slows down a little and you and your AI partner will start to gain distance over the rest of the pack. It seems like 2 drafting cars have the same speed as 10 drafting cars. When you get near the finish pass your partner for the win. Maybe this was PD's way of teaching players that you need to work with others and bump draft in NASCAR. ;)

the only solution with Nascar on Daytona is when you overtaken the other cars, is to stay low in the turns, but just outside the yellow inside line, that will win it and the other cars will not push you over!

Cheers for all the tips folks! I was going high all the time and kept getting totaled for my trouble.

I'm away from my Ps3 for a few days but when I get back I'll try staying low, upping my top speed and lowering the downforce. It's good to know that it's doable (and not broken), so I should have a bit more confidence going into it now.

Just to add an alternate strategy that worked for me - Draft to the front of the pack in the first lap being very careful to avoid much, if any, contact with other cars. Once you're in front stick to the inside of the track to cut down on the other cars using your slipstream. You may need to be aggressive with blocking in the straights but you can also stick the corners much better than the AI does.
Good luck!

Did it on my first try - stay low + add 10mph to top speed + reduce downforce ftw!

It was actually very easy. I made it to first by the end of lap one and the bots came back, overtaking me twice.
Each time I just stayed low, let 'em pass and draughted back to 1st.

Great tips guys, thanks again :)

If you think the 1st one is hard wait till willow springs and the High speed ring the AI do there best to shunt you off. As said for Daytona stay low and on the others keep on the inside of then in corners so they cant take you out.

I found Daytona really easy, won it first time. Willow Springs is a pain though, I can't even get a top 6 on that

Tip: When the race starts, drop to last one to about a couple of seconds from the leading car. If you time it right, it will take you the five laps to catch and overtake them all on the back straight, gaining enough gap on the second to last corner to comfortably win the race. FACT! :D

Drive it hard, and don't think about the rear end stepping out. They have more mechanical grip than you think.

I think I was TCS 7 and ABS 10 with the DS3 on the other tracks. I won them easily, once I left the factory settings alone that is....

Apologies if you are already aware of this but, have you put the power limiter back up to 100% for Willow? I struggled with Willow and HSR as couldn't understand why I lost so much ground on the straights and in acceleration zones. Managed to win WIllow somehow but really struggled at HSR. I hadn't realised that the 70% power limit only applies to Daytona, Indy and Motegi (ie, the ovals), the other 2 allow full power. If you are already aware of that, then not sure what else to suggest

After many tries, I succeeded in the oval races, but at HSR and Willow Springs, my rear keeps spinning out when accelerating out of a corner. ( I play DS3) How can I improve the grip of these cars?

I'm also a ds3 player, dpad only. All oval tracks were easy, keep downforce low, draft, and stay on the side so the pack doesn't draft you. For willow and I turned downforce all the way up, put the trans at 211 and put tc on 1. Wasn't too bad. Hsr was a pain for me though. 420/600 downforce, 211 trans, tc 1, and draft as much as you can. Work on little to no throttle in the apex area of a corner, they spin easily.

I don't really like this series. Once I beat all races, which were rather easy once you drive aggressively with them, I didn't go back to the series. The only one I race now is the Motegi Oval for decent money in 3:12 secs each race. I found that sometimes you have to be just as aggressive as they are with you. Sometimes even using them to get around a turn with a bit more speed.

Easy wins using stock Dale E. 2010 car.
No tuning other than lowering power limiter to meet Oval's PP requirements.

Just stayed low and below when drafting in the turns.
Don't go above when drafting in turns, you will lose the slipstream.

If you try to pass on the outside you will get pit-manuvered by AI.
If you slow down too much, you will get pit-manuvered by AI.
The AI did the same in GT5, especially on Daytona.

High Speed Ring: First & last turns, stay below when following.
I used a wheel, no driving aids/0 ABS.

Willow springs all i done was drop the transmission to 187mph. This will allow you to accelerate past the opposition on the straight

High speed ring max.downforce and trans set to 205

Is there a way to pay $$$ to Polyphony and win this race? You know keep up with their current pricing model an all/
