NASCAR race: Back on. 22nd January

I'm hosting a 100-lap race at Daytona for people with stock cars.
First off: Can we have a pace car driver.
Preferably but not neccesarily the Skyline pace car.
The race is on Sunday 9th January at 3PM
It's mainly for European drivers who can't make it to the SCANA and Friday Night Daytona races.
Bump-draft will be allowed but can I ask for you to not do it in the turns. I'm not paying the safety car driver.:lol:
Race will be set to 101 laps. We start and the pace car driver leads us around the track and we start racing on lap 2. There is a 62MPH/100KPH speed limit during the first lap and cautions. If you have a spin please put the car on to the flat track at the bottom. The safety car will only come out if 2 or more cars crash. Don't purposefully hit another car so a safety car will come out and help you or you'll be disquallified. Lucky Dog rule will be in place.Free run lasts 10 minutes and then I press start so you will more than likely finish the lap you're on. All tyres are allowed. Only oil change is permitted.Most importantly have fun!

Shame this isn't today - I can't make tomorrow I'm afraid. If things change though I will let you know.

We should start to get people interested now that it's the afternoon. Instead of 3 in the morning when most Europeans are in bed.:lol:
 
I can voulenteer as a pace car ( I do have the R34 pace car), but how do you do it in terms of grid lineup for the pace car lap? just set it to reverse grid?
 
Thanks for volunteering. Unfortunetley there seems to be no interest whatsoever in this event. For the start I will set it to standing start for convenience. You come up from the back to lead the drivers. You go round the track at a slow pace and pull into the pits. As for cautions, when you see 2 or more cars collide on the map pull out of the pits and go slowly while the leader comes. You have to let anyone who isn't the leader buy comes across you first through.
 
Due to lack of interest event is cancelled. Probably a mix-up between such late announcement of this race and the fact that Americans are completley ruled out due to start time.
 
Okay so does anyone want to re-do this after the bad that was last time?
 
Akmug may i make a suggestion.. Most if not all of the people who signed up for FND were on my Friends list before I started the league. I did alot of promotion in the game to get people involved, countless amount of messaging through psn and in the game. Once i got a core group they helped spread the word for me and now people are asking to join.I hope you have great luck with it and dont stop promoting your league.
 
Hello there Sir, I would definately love to be involved. All I will race online is NASCAR, and although I am trying hard to get to the level of Gtuuk and his group of friends (because they can handle the pressure in packs), I am still a little of their calibre, yet improving all the time.

I have quite a few UK friends that I have obtained since being online, who ride strictly NASCAR (of varying levels I must add), but are all in there to race and race clean.

My only problems lie in TV access and generally can only get to play later in the evenings (normall 10:00 onwards), but I could help generate interest, and also could help out in setting up. I have watch Gtuuk and Chad host their first one in its' entirity so have a good idea how to make it a good event (sorta).

So 1) if you want assistance, and 2) if you want me to gather a group of UK drivers together, I am more than willing in the limited time I generally get.

Unfrunetley I won't have any chance at after 10:00 PM. Also thanks Gtuuk for the advice. Last time I put a message up on my PSN wall and mentioned it to people in races or if I'm in a NASCAR race online with some GTP members but no one joined last time.
 
Add me mate, I have some races with 6 or 7 others, always around Daytona in NASCAR's and it's great fun.

Just had a race where I got taken out at lap 10 of a 50 lapper, so Dararo sat back till I caught his draft and we worked back 40 seconds over the next 30 laps to catch the leader, the three of us pitted with 10 laps left and fourth place took the lead by some 12 seconds, we caught him on the final corner as he ran out of gas pushing his luck, to all take him within half a second of each other ....... great racing.

Needless to say I didn't win ..... Again :ouch:

If you want this kind of racing mate, come and find us, all UK bar one, so it's all good. :)

Nah PS3 only at the weekends for me:(. But about 24 hours a day at the weekend.:lol:

Don't worry well hook up. So anyone want to actually compete in this NASCAR race is should I just call this off?
 
I think for now mate, postpone it. I'm been racing with 5 other guys for the last week, every night now. Good bunch of guys and all up for starting a league. All UK based as well so will help with potential lag issues etc.

I have a couple other on my friends list who will be interested as well, so need to speak to them.

Over the next few days I will see what day and time is good for all (we normally meet up after 10:00 on weekdays so far), and if you come will let you know, if I don't see you in the room beforehand.

PS, if you don't have a mic, get one. It's probably more essential for NASCAR than any other racing.

I am interested in running, just need a day and time so i can see if i am available to run in it...if i am available i will most definantly run....
 
Hi, can anyone of you add me on your list? My PSN ID is doctsuru_69. I'm from the Philippines and I would love to experience racing with online friends. I've been playing (during my free time) Gran Turismo for few years now but I got bored of racing with AI. I'm new to online racing and my interest lately is NASCAR; this is a new experience for me, and i would greatly appreciate learning new driving tips and techniques from you guys.

Im currently Spec-A level 21, I'm riding the Jimmie Johnson #48 tuned car (raced 50 laps on soft tire last night; pit stop at 26th, got the lead on the 40th lap, but got disconnected 7 laps to the finish line due to brownout-- what a waste of time and effort!:grumpy:). I'm using the logitech G25. I hope I can keep up with you guys. :)
 
I might be interested, I'm not very good at tyre management yet though. :sly:

Send a friend request and come and race, only way to learn is to practice. The guys are willing to share set ups and certain strategies etc, so as long as you can race clean while racing hard then your more than welcome mate.

For future reference, (and sorry to others) but we are trying to keep it UK & Ireland based for now. This is only to keep the lag potential down to a minimum as it really does seem to make a difference.

Example, we were all driving smooth, and had someone from USA in last night, who was jumping all over the place. It was not his driving, but the lag etc.

Don't mean that to be harsh, but it really helps with the racing. :nervous:

This weekend the 22nd is the SCANA qualifier. So that might have something to do with your low joining rate. Not sure. Good luck.

However much I want to drive in your leagues, honestly, I don't think I am good enough just yet after watching some of them. That's why I've stayed away until I'm ready to compete with you guys.

And I know that you wouldn't think this but it's not a case of trying to compete against yours, it's just that you have a strong US contingent, and I am trying to grow a NASCAR fan base in the UK.

Who knows, as we get more racers, and improve, in time we could have a 'Across The Pond' Shootout .... that actually would be great fun.

Good luck with your events, they look like they are getting stronger and stronger. I hope to join you when I feel I am ready, and hope that I get this going to a level that you currently have.

Gotcha Man. I do not feel threaten by other Nascar startups. 👍 SCANA is a much different approach to GT5 & Nascar. A lot more challenging.

I wish I had more time to join others events, because I would be interested in going where the action is.

You never know where you stack up until you try to qualify. Im not saying you should jump in and try but you never know. Maybe you are better than you think.

I'm interested in the nascar race...been looking for some good clean nascar with people who can be patient and not push their way through the pack on the first lap. Just post a time on here...I'll be on pretty much all weekend
