Nascar/RM cars and rev limiters

Why is it that they have that in the game?

Wouldn't it just be better if they removed it and instead when it went of the red it simply damaged the engine similar to when you crash and the engine damage slows the speed?:dunce:/đź’ˇ

That's at least what I think.
And it should apply to all RM modded cars as well.

EDIT: and that RM modded cars can't use Automatic

NASCAR I can see that, but most modern car, even race cars have rev-limiter built-in....Maybe remove it for old cars or something...at the same time though the whole clutch shifting issue with the 3 pedal wheels needs to be fixed....it is way to easy to miss shift the way it is setup right now...

All cars that hyperthetically had their rev limiter removed, then were revved past their limit would sooner or later start to incur engine damage, not just race cars or NASCARS. Thats what red lines and rev limiters are about, if you do it to one car then why not all?

Each engine is built in a way that means it can only take so many revs, different engines have different rev limits and are built and designed to operate within those limits. Go past this limit and the result is the same for all engines - damage.

If not, then theoretically you could rev your everyday car to the same revs as an F1 car, but that's never going to happen.

ECU does most of that now, most car now have soft limit and a hard fuel cut-off. If you have a non-electronically controlled engine it makes sense, but most modern car you can't "over-rev" by stumping on the gas and make the engine go to 18K. Now if you did a 6-2 downshift at 200mph, and yeah that WILL blow up since the wheel are actually driving the motor at that point...

The regular cars should still have the rev limiter on though.

I don't understand what you're saying though, or the point your trying to make and why.

Have some cars without rev limiters but other cars with rev limiters. Is that what your saying??

I only drove my Nascar once, hated it so much I gave it to a friend and have never driven once since!?!?! Is there something different about a Nascar to other cars, do they not have limiters or something??

Let's say it like this.
Have you driven a road car without rev limiter?

NASCAR cars don't have rev limiters (unless they started using them recently which strongly doubt they have).
While race cars have simply set a higher limit to when the rev limiter kicks in but knowing GT5 isn't gonna add a customizable rev limiter it's just better to remove it on RM modded cars.

Sure race cars have limiters. In F1 depending on the situation they can give the driver more rpm or less..... The magic word is electronic fuel injection. That been said, your street car (if equipped with this injection type) the manufacturer deceided a set up athat gives decent power to long life and fuel consumption...... Same models have same engine but different power layout, that is done by mapping... Seats have Vw engines most of the time they have a littke more Power than the engines used in the VW counterparts.
For the Nascars, the rules demand a V8 .... Carburator... So no rev limiter. Sure somehow there could a way of inventing a mechanical way of introducin a limiter, like on old thriumph motorcycles there the heat exchanger (could be the wrong word, sorry, but the small notch on the front is meant) this one was relied with a wire that got bigger under heat and touched a contact that would interfere with the ignition to prevent overheatig.
