How do I do this? Is it really just the way in which you take the corners and how well you can draft? I've golded the other 2 events quite easily, but this one just seems ridiculous
And it doesn't help that I have to watch the pit guys do the wheels and fuel every ****ing time I restart
 
Have you turned ABS off? it also disables the ASM which is robbing all your speed. I couldn't get close until I learned this, and breezed it afterwards.
 
You can no longer turn of ABS, it's stuck at 1.
Maybe you can delete the update?

You can't do this anymore since 1.06.

It's still possible though, I remember doing Indy with ASM on but it was a close one, I only won by 0.03 seconds. Then I found out about the ABS off trick and easily beat Daytona.
 
Can only turn ABS down to 1, and the ASM is automatically locked to on. How do I turn it off?

Edit: Just saw the posts. Damn thats annoying. Best I'm getting atm is 3rd. I think I'll back up my game, then see if I can delete the update
 
And I tried this with ABS on so many times... :ouch:

Just look at some Youtube videos, there are probably some good tutorials out there.
 
Wow, am I glad I golded them all before the update then - I was having a right 'mare with ASM on - guess it's ghosted out in the RA menu too?
 
When you leave the pits try to let the AI hit you from behind should give you a boost of speed.
 
It managed to do it with ABS=1 after the 1.06 patch. It took many tries and it gets frustrating having to watch your car pit before every attempt. When you pull out, safely get into the driving line so you have a boost from the draft. You can bump draft the first car you encounter to catch up to the pack if you have a poor entry. After that you cannot touch any cars or you will lose momentum. I can't imagine doing this with a controller as i had to be very precise with the wheel. Good luck!

I remember having problems with this, then coming back to it and it was way easier but that could well have been after turning off the ABS, indeed.

I do remember you need to get in the right position whereby a car or two coming up behind will actually shunt you, so make sure they hit you square-on.

Also does anyone know if you still can't adjust it in the quick menu you can bring up mid-race, with a wheel or if you reconfigure your DS3 controls accordingly? Is the ABS slider still greyed out?
 
Lol I'd been racing on and off for quite a long time, so I felt like a break anyway
I dunno if it you can still change it in game, I've got a DFGT so I'll have a look on the little RA wheel thing and see if it can be changed
 
when coming out the pits try and aim 4 3rd place the cars behind u will hit u up the back making u go faster. so at the end of the first corner u will be in first.

Yeah, it was over a month ago, but I remember getting the guy in third to run into my backside to get a speed boost. I couldn't do it without this rear-end collision.
 
doesn't abs only affect braking, as in not locking up if you brake?

if I remember you don't brake in that event?
 
I think at some point somebody claimed that having any level of ABS on means the ASM is on also, though I must admit this seems a little odd.

You don't want ASM on though, I know that much :)
 
This needs to be patched with an update, I can't believe they deliberately made it impossible with the last updates, I think it's an accidental casualty of the changes in 1.06.

But ASM is stuck ON, to turn it off you can alternatively turn off ABS, but with the new update it's stuck at 1 also.
 
I'm going to get frowned upon but all you need have to do is get onto the racing ASAP so the oncoming cars ram into you and give you a boost. I won comfortably on my 2nd try with a ds3.
BTW i'm a clean racer but the 1.06 patch has forced me to do this..
