I just tried this so I know it works. I had for gotten how easy the events were before 1.07. To be able to do the event without asm, you 1st need to delete your game data file. Not the save data, the game data. Then kill the Internet connection to the ps3. Then start the game, beat NASCAR, quit game, reload the game data and you have now beaten NASCAR. It's alot of trouble, but for those that can't beat it currently this will work.

Its not unbeatable even with ABS on. I did it last week and its harder, but not impossible.

You can also map ABS to the driving configuration and while racing, you can disable it on your own, negating the need to delete game data.

Almost got you guys in trouble. Make sure you back up your save file data. Both before deleting the game data and before reinstalling it. If you don't, you will get the insufficient space error. So make sure you reload your saved data after reinstalling the game data.

Also, as is said above, it is doable with the current version.

ok then this begs the question. the only save data i find are my chrome line cars, and my game save. where is the gt update data?

map to driving configuration? mine only lets me turn abs to 1-10. not 0.

fwiw, i watched some you tube vids on it and i cant get the car to keep any speed in the corners. it goes down to under 190. i do have a ds3 and not a wheel though. the vids i saw the guy can keep his car going like 205. and my personal nascar can run sub 42s all day without a tow. havent broke a 41.5 yet but low 6s all the time. so the driving part isnt the issue.

With the new ps3 update it now does not work. You may have different results than me, but with the new update this does not work. It has to do with the save/backup. So attempt at your own risk.

TBH it seems like more trouble than it's worth, especially since you don't get much for beating the NASCAR challenges to begin with. It is good to do for completion purposes but that's about it. Once you get far enough in the game you can buy a nascar rather than winning it without losing many credits.

After about three or four hours of doing just these challenges over and over I began to view it as like playing Doom in Nightmare or Halo in Legendary. Stupidly hard but an amazing feeling when you win.

Then you realize it's NASCAR and no one cares... :)

If you have a DFGT wheel, can you still turn off the ASM with that at the start of the event?
