NASCAR Special Event

Hey guys, I spent a couple of hours trying to beat the last part of the advanced Nascar Special Event last night, and it's driving me nuts. I can't figure out why this is so hard for me. It's the one where there is the track slow down and you have to draft everyone from last place in 2 laps.

There were several times that I got ahead in the last turn, but then all the cars would swarm at me like wild animals and I wasn't able to defend, or they would hit my rear end causing me to lose speed, or spin out and hit the wall.

Does anyone have any suggestions or tips for beating it? It's driving me nuts.

Turn ABS off which turns ASM off aswell. No ASM: Massive cornering speed, massive cornering speed: easy gold.

Just block them off but they may be aggressive so try and not let them hit you where it will cause you to spin. Easy way is to let them hit you on the back at the straight so you get a boost in speed.

Interesting I was wondering how that worked! I knew it wasn't a hard challenge, just sometimes it's hard to keep consistent lines with the DS3. Thanks man.

And Counter, thanks as well. A couple of times 2 cars would pass me up on the left and 1 on the right.

So far, this race is the most fun I've had in GT5 yet.
One of few replays I've saved.
It has to be the only race I ever won, where I spent as much time off-track as on.

I used 1-ABS and TCS and everything else off.
Using DS3 controller.

All assists off - you don't need the ABS either and this WILL kick in even when you're not braking (no idea why, but with only ABS on the triangle still lights!).

Run in the pack, they're faster together than a your single car. Overtake out of the last turn.

Thanks guys, I beat it last night finally. Car drove differently with the ABS/ASM off, but a couple of passes and I got used to it. Had to block for the last stretch but still got it. Too bad I spent 4 hours the other night trying to pass it with ABS/ASM on :(
