Hello. I have a NAT 3 connection at the moment for my PS3 on GT5, which causes issues with managing rooms. I would like to know how to change it back to NAT 2... (It wasbe fore, but it weirdly changed itself....)

I have done searches but all I get are results about opening ports, and similar tech talk. I have no idea about this, so can someone tell me what to do in plain english please?

(and I have tried clearing cache, re-installing PS3 internet connection and that didn't work).

Try this PS3 link about NAT 2 connection hope it helps you I have it bookmarked on my PC.

i have tried every guide i could find to set the ps3 to go through NAT 2 type traffic but all was unsuccesful.
Instead, i switched it to PPPoE (gave my user and pass ISP settings) so i got NAT 3.
All works fine, no dropping connection, connection okay, excellent online play etc.

I have it happen randomly where my modem suddenly switches over to Type 3 from Type 2. I just reset the modem and then perform a full network connection test on my PS3. If it hasn't swapped back then contact your ISP and tell them what's happening. :)

Mine went from NAT 2 to NAT 3

Not to get bogged down in semantics, but that's a router - it contains modem functionality, but it's a router.

Find out what IP address the Home Hub is assigning to your PS3 - if I remember rightly, the Home Hub's IP address will be 192.168.1.254, so it'll be 192.168.1.something. Assign it that IP permanently. Go to your PS3's Network Settings and rather than allowing it to obtain its IP address from the router, set it up to that IP address. Lastly, go to the router's DMZ settings and put that IP address into it.

You've now set your PS3 to be permanently in the router's Demilitarised Zone and this should change your NAT type to 2.

Well here are my current settings, as it appears on my PS3 XMB:

IP Address: 192.168.1.137
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Router: 192.168.1.254
Primary DNS: 192.168.1.254
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

Is this any help?

The DNS settings look a bit squiffy, but I tend to just bang in the OpenDNS settings (208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222).

So you need to manually set up that IP address under Network Settings. That's
Network Settings/Internet Connection
Custom
Wired/Wireless Connection
Auto-Detect
Manual (under "IP Address Settings"):
* Put in the IP address (192.168.1.137), the subnet mask (255.255.255.0), the default router IP (192.168.1.254) and primary/secondary DNS (I use 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222 - for OpenDNS)
Automatic
Do Not Use
Enable
Enter
Test/Enter, job jobbed

I don't know how you set up an IP address permanently on a BT Home Hub, but it'll be somewhere obvious in the interface. Go to 192.168.1.254 on a PC connected to the router and enter the admin username and password (which I'll assume you're familiar with). That'll take you to the router interface. There'll be something of the equivalent of "LAN IP Setup" in there somewhere and you'll need to associate the IP address you used - 192.168.1.137 - with the MAC address (which will be hexadecimal - there'll probably only be two in there, your PC and your PS3) of the PS3. Then put that IP address in the router's DMZ.

If you have a router running off your modem it will not make any difference what you do to the router until you have your ISP change the settings of the modem. Call them and tell them you need a Nat 2 setting on your modem to play online games and they should be able to make the changes.

If he manages to assign the ip permantently in the router, he doesn't have to bother putting it manually in the PS3. And nothing squiffy about the DNS address the PS3 gets, the router forwards the DNS requests.

For help with accessing the router, look here:
http://www.filesaveas.com/bthomehub_login.html

It depends on the hub model you have, but based on screenshots, the manual ip assignment must be somewhere in settings -> home network

DMZ can be assigned in settings -> application sharing -> DMZ

I tried changing the default router on my PS3 from the IPV Default Gateway to the IPV4 Address, got NAT 2 but PSN stopped working? Help please?
