Navigator codes?

I am trying to find a good explanation for the codes that the navigator is calling out in the rally races. I figured out that a low number refers to a sharper turn. However, he often uses the word "long" and I can't figure out what he means. Also the numbers like 500 800 1000 and such I haven't figured out. I assume he means meters to something but what I am not sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think the numbers may refer to meters, as in how long the straight section of the track is ahead of you. As for when he says "2 left long", or something similar, expect a #2 turn followed by another #2 turn, both to the left. Instead of saying "2 left, 2 left" , he says it "2 left long". Think of u-turn with two #2 turns, maybe a brief straight section in between the turns.

The navigator could be better honestly. From my experience he misses a lot of corners.

Thats true i think, and for the numbers i think that they indicate the sharpness of the corner and also the best gear to drive through that corner. (allthough it's not allways right, because i sometimes hav to brake much more than he said...)

Its not right at all. Best example is whenever he calls out a corner to take at a 7 as most rally cars do not possess a 7th gear in GT5. The numbers indicate the severity of the corner from 1 as very difficult to 7 as easy.

Just like real co-drivers he is telling you speed, gears and distance.

eg: 2 right into 1000 is a 2nd gear right into a 1000 meter straight.

Sometimes he will say sharpens/ sharpens over crest which is warning you that although you may be entering the corner correctly, it starts turning sharper, and over crest means a gradient shift making it more tricky. It pays to listen to him sometimes. Although not as in depth as the WRC or Colin McCrae co-drivers, he is useful.

Called a double-apex.

first number is corner radius/speed level 1 to 7 and second is length of straight afterwards.

There are differences between navigators around the world, but the same general idea.

I find I need to listen more, rather than trying to watch the track map to see what's up ahead. It will improve your driving in the end.

Ok, you got a point there. But i allready said that it was also for indicating the sharpness of a corner. So, you're right, and im half right, right?

Exactly, he's not telling you what gear to be in, just the sharpness of the turn, although sometimes (coincidence) it is actually the correct gear.

the number he says for instance 3 is the gear that you should be in for that particular corner i think as for numbers like 500 800 those are the straight sections of the course in meters I think
