Well the NBA season opened tonight with the defending champs the OKC Thunder facing our departed friend JMBM01's beloved Houston Rockets. The Thunder were able to pull out a 125-124 win in double OT as Jabari Smith missed a shot with time winding to secure the win. Great start to the season

So we have gone through the 1st week of the season and this started good but then gambling scandal hit and Terry Rozier, Chauncey Billups and Damon Jones were arrested by the Feds for illegal gambling and participating in high stakes poker games run by the mafia. After the opening game and the game Wemby had the NBA was looking pretty good. To have a black eye that happen is a very bad look. Especially since it leaked out that Damon Jones and Billups leaked info when players would not be playing. We'll have to see what the fallout from this is.

So it seems like the betting stuff has died down for now so the games have been the focus. About nine games in there have been a few surprises like the Lakers & Blazers being good.
LAL are 7-2 7 the Blazer are 5-3.
Ja Morant doing Ja Morant has been not surprising.
New Orleans being win less with Zion playing is a surprise as well.
Houston is doing fairly well with the tree lineup. KD looks rejuvenated. Alperen Sengun looks All-NBA
Wemby is dangerous
OKC is looking dynastic and Jalen Williams is still out. Ajay Mitchell has come out of now where for them
To me this is shaping up to be a good year. My Knicks are starting to round into form.
TBH I won't really start paying attention to the NBA until December but so far so good.

Well it looks like the Mavericks are going to fire Nico Harrison

Well Atlanta traded Trae Young to the Wizards for CJ McCollum & Korey Kispert. No draft picks involved. This is a salary dump as Young has a 49 million dollar option for next year. They have a losing record with in the line up and they are going to build around Jalen Johnson. He wanted to go Washington because he will get to be the guy and they will have issue with picking up his option if he plays well for them. He will probably open up their offenses but they will have to find a way to hide a short non athletic disinterested defender

I having been keeping this thread up to date as the NFL was going on but as the NFL winds down it's time to get into the NBA. So we are close to the trade deadline and there have been a lot of trades. The one trade that most are looking for Giannis to someone has not happened yet but here's all of the trades that have happened in the last few days:
NY Knicks traded Guerschon Yabusele to Chicago Bulls Dalen Terry
GS Warriors traded Jonathan Kuminga & Buddy Hield to Atlanta for Kristaps Porzingis
GS Warriors traded Trayce Jackson-Davis to the Toronto Raptors for 2026 2nd rd pick
Orlando Magic traded Tryus Jones to the Charlotte Hornets for cash considerations and 2 2nd rd picks
Utah Jazz traded the rights to Balsa Koprivica to OKC for cash considerations
Utah Jazz traded Jock Landale to the Atlanta Hawks for cash considerations
Cleveland Cavaliers traded Alonzo Ball to the Utah Jazz for 2 2nd picks
In a 3 way trade the LA Clippers sent Chris Pal to the Toronto Raptors. The Brooklyn Nets receive Ochai Agbaji, a 2032 2nd rd pick and cash. The Clippers received the rights from Vanja Marinkovic
Charlotte Hornets traded Mason Plumlee to OKC for Ousmane Dieng
Chicago Bulls traded Coby White & Mike Conley Jr. to the Charlotte Hornets for Collim Sexton, Ousmane Dieng & 3 2nd rd picks
Dallas Mavericks traded Anthony Davis, Jaden Hardy, D'Angelo Russell & Dante Exum to the Washington Wizards for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, 2 1st rd picks & 302nd rd picks
Philadelphia 76ers traded Jared McCain to OKC for the Houston Rockets 2026 1st rd pick & 3 2nd rd picks
LA Clippers traded James Harden to Cleveland Cavaliers for Darius Garland and a 2nd rd pick
Chicago Bulls traded Nikola Vucevic to the Boston Celtics for Anfernee Simons & a 2nd rd pick
Chicago Bulls were involved in a 3 team trade with Detroit & Minnesota
Chicago receives Jaden Ivey & Mike Conley Jr ( who was traded to the Hornets) Detroit received Dario Saric, Kevin Huerter and a 2026 1st rd protected pick swap with Minnseota. Minnesota recieved cap space
Memphis Grizzlies traded Jaren Jackson Jr.. John Konchar, Jock Landale ( who was traded to ATL) & Vince Williams Jr to Utah for Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Handricks, George Niang & 3 future 1st rd picks
Atlanta Hawks traded Vit Krejci to Portland for Duop Reath & 2 future 2nd rd picks
Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings & Chicago Bulls had a 3 team trade:
Sacramento received De'Andre Hunter from Cleveland
Cleveland received Dennis Schroder & Keon Ellis from Sacramento
Chicago received Dario Saric (who was traded to Detriot) & 2 2nd rd picks from Sacramento
That's a lot of trades. I'm pretty sure there will be a few more today before the deadline. I will give my thoughts on some of these big trades tomorrow

HOLY ****
unnamed(1).webp

I'll check how players who played for the University of Kentucky are doing a few times a season and I saw where Bam started shooting more 3s but I literally never even considered he could score 60. To have the second highest scoring game in NBA history when I almost exclusively remember him as a defensive focused player is ****ing insane!
Looking at the highlights Kobes 81 was definitely more impressive but this still might go down as the most unexpected game in NBA history.
