Dude, you never know how strong they were?

At a few years old they could beat you in an arm wrestle. But how they got to his testicles I don't want to know!

They're insane...remember Tim Roth played the crazy chimp General Thade in the remake of Planet of the Apes...he was even more powerful than the silverback gorillas...

I see you are overlaying movies with reality.

Oh yeah, this story is real, alright. It's been in the news for the past several days here in SoCal. Moe the chimp has been a regular in the local news for about ten years now. He got lose from his cage at his owners home back in '99, and had to taken away by authorities. The owners sued, and lost to keep him in their home.

They went for visit to his new home, and the attack took place. His big mistake was pushing the woman away. The chimps saw that and went berzerk. I guess they were trying to protect her, of sorts. It's a sad story. I hope he pulls through OK.

I heard this on Mancow's Morning Madhouse, who has been known to tell fake stories, and I had to google it, since it was unbeliveable. I can't beleive it's true! I did not know that chimps had the power to do that to someone.... I'm never gonna trust a monkey again. (I know Omnis already doesn't trust them ;))

Discuss.

Chimpanzees aren't monkeys. They're apes.

The basic difference? "No monkey would ever hold a man upside-down by his ankles"

No, I was just trying to remind everyone of the movie, and to use this story to explain why the diminutive Thade (Roth) was the leader and was able to overpower Colonel Attar (Michael Clarke Duncan). Now you know why. Chimps are powerful + insane. That = bad news.

THAT'S NUTS! I like to think that at a spry 26 years old I could handle myself with an animal of similar size, but that story makes me think twice. My dog is about 65 lbs of lean muscle. He's stocky, powerful, and extremely quick. But in most situations I can over power him. It is only both our desires to not actually hurt eachother that keep me from seriously testing our strengths against eachother.

If an animal attacked me there are of course obvious things I would do. Boot in the mouth - let them chew on leather / rubber. Squeeze the throat. Grab a leg and swing them around by it. But it sounds like these chimps were crazy f'ing fast and crazy f'ing strong.

Another thing I've found will incapacitate an animal is to cover it with a blanket or towel. Though I suppose if it's attached to a man's face, that could be difficult to do.

Especially when it's the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.

It pays to know where your towel is.

What if the guy had a turban on? :sly:

Nope. Did you have to ask? I know you were just waiting for someone to take YOU seriously about taking Famine seriously, and, well, I'm your man!

Yup - I'm confused. Enough of this thread. Back to GT4.

Monkeys, like most mammals that live in the wild, are 6 times stronger (pound for pound) than the average man. We used to be that strong 150,000 years ago.

I don't have to say it again, do I?
