From a review on Anandtech from November, it looks like NEC(nd-3500a) and Pioneer(DVR-108D) have good offerings. However, the NEC edges out the Pioneer, because it has the bitsetting feature. Is there anything better out there? Is anything new coming out?

ROAD_DOGG33J if you want one of the best wirter out get a pioneer they are considered the best by far, especially in the dvd pirate scene and game copying scene, if you want ot read about dvd writers and all releated stuff go here they have got as much info as you could want.

Based on the reviews I was looking at at the time I purchased (a bit over a month ago), the 16x lite-on and the 16x LG burners were the best burners on the market. At the time, both burners cost $90 canadian ($75USD).

After much debate, I got the LG because I liked that it was a little bit better at error correction. My friend got the Lite-On because it was a tiny bit faster. We're both happy... but the blank dvds we got just plain suck :(

emad what disk you getting coz the best are made by Ritek Corporation of Taiwan the ymake the best you can buy AAA media, always make sure that the dvd's you buy are purple underneath and if the people that you buy from know what they are on about check if they have disk with the G04 dye, this dye is the one that ritek use and it ensures that it is a good quality disk. This dark purple dye formulation ensures compatibility with all the most popular DVD-R recorders and DVD players as well as consoles

I only paid £82 for my dvd writer its a pioneer A08 and its incredible its has burnt over 150 dvds and not one single coster. I use Ritek disk all the time they cost slightly more but they play anything you burn to them in ps2's, x-box's you name it it plays.

Nah, I think it was just an over the top bad batch of crappy no-name dvd's. I've had it happen in the past with cd-r's. First several spindles run awesome... then the next ended up being all screwy. Either way, the 4x and 8x Riteks are down dirt cheap in my area. I'll pick up a spindle as soon as I burn off the current one 👍

I got the Pioneer 107 and 108, the 107 was better till i added the hacked firmware to the 108....

But their flawless and they handle Princos well....

I have this one thats a little older but it does everything I have ever needed. Movies, games, cds and it came with Nero. Bought it from Office Max.
My DVD burner
I can back a game up anywhere between 10-20 minutes. (the fastest was around 8 minutes)
Movies can be backed up anywhere between 20-40 minutes. 👍
