quite often when i am on suzuka i make stupid mistakes that cost me the lead,i seem to make more mistakes when i am leading.

I need help so i can stop costing myself the lead.
one more thing-when i pull away from the start i alway's hang back a bit and then when there are errors i take their place's and i try not to push my way past other people during the race even if it means i can't stay with the leader's,my question is should i go for the gap even there isn't much of one or should i wait even if it means i can;t run with the leaders.
I find that when i get clear air i can set lap times similar to some of leaders.

Thanx

You might aswell post "Can someone race for me when Im in the lead"

Only kidding. Try to keep a cool head. Dont aswell keep you eye on the mirror / map / splits to see where they are. And just race how you would any other lap, hit each apex as it comes.

Yeah when am leading i make more mistakes but if am last i drive really fast. Just try to pretend theres no one behind you really.

Yeah ignorance is bliss as they say, If theres no way to get round the guy in front allways put him under preasure, feint overtakes so he goes off line in corners ect ect, anything, slow him down enough to overtake him or keep up, if he's constantly looking in the rear view mirror he's more likly to make a mistake. It's what every race driver dose from computer games to F1! the best practice is to cover your line but try not to worry too much about the guy behind, remember he's doing it because he can't get past you without you making a mistake.......so if you don't make a mistake he aint passing you!

Ignore the person behind you race as if there not there.

True in real life, not true in GT5:P.

I usually race the 550pp RWD on suzuka in my NSX and I often fight for the lead.
Usually when I'm in first place I have a nice gap which tends to close if a fast Clio is behind me. I've often had really close races where I'd had to keep someone off for about 3 laps, all with good clean racing.

I just change my driving lines, try to keep the door shut (try to be well on the inside of important corners) and keep it fair when someone is dragging you.

As for being far out in the lead, I try to drive more conservative but still fast. When you feel the car slide, just a little, lift of the gas earlier, don't take any risks.
It might also help to focus on your laptimes (and splittimes) instead of looking behind you.

Picture and concentrate on the road ahead. Try and imagine driving through the entire corner before you get to each succesive corner. Like others have said, try not to think about the guy behind you as this will just get the nerves going. Most importantly, don't overdrive the car or drive beyond your ability in an attempt to get away, as this will more than likely cause a mistake. It's all easier said than done though haha!

One corner at a time. I used to screw up every time I took the lead. For me it was the fact that I was afraid I'd do something stupid and lose the lead. I'm not afraid I'll do something stupid if I'm trying to catch the leader.

I still get careless and screw up sometimes when I'm leading cause I'll back off if I have a few seconds lead and then I miss my marks.

Make out its time trial mode and you are the only one on the track.

Breathe too. Sounds silly but unconsciously you will be holding your breath. Breathe a bit and you will be more relaxed and make less mistakes 👍
