Need advise, want to buy FM4

Hi guys,

I originally bought the Xbox 360 console to play Forza 3, and loved every minute of it. When I heard that Forza 4 was not going to feature Porsches (me being a huge Porsche fan) it was a deal breaker, so I sold off my Xbox, only to read a week later that Turn10 was bringing Porsches back :dunce:

My question to you guys is, how many MS points do I need to buy all the DLC packs that have come out for FM4 since launch?. Would it be cheaper to buy the VIP status first, and get all packs at a discount? Or is there one huge DLC pack at a discounted price?

I thought I would be able to hold off till Xbox Next comes out along with Forza 5. But with Porsches being brought back into FM4, the announcement of Forza Horizon (everything a new Need For Speed should be), and my favourite arcade racer series of all time Project Gotham Racing, now seems the best time to own an Xbox for the car nut that I am!

Your help will be much appreciated

All packs (season pass) is 2100 points plus the other pack not included in that is ~500 points, the Porsche pack is 1400 without VIP, there are also another 2 packs that come with the VIP but I'm not sure how much VIP is.

You won't get any discount on the already released packs even with VIP except for the Porsche pack

If you can live without VIP or not is the deal breaker as it looks like you're already made up on getting FM4 :)

Thanks for your quick replys. I love the 5 cars offered with the VIP pass so I will definitely be getting it. Season pass I read unlocks all car packs released up through April.

So to sum up the amount of points I will need:

VIP pass - 1200
Porsche pack - 1200
Season pass - 2100
All DLC packs after April at abt 500 point each - 1000

Total - 5500 MS points for all DLCs!

Wow, would you guys say it's worth it? I'll buy the Xbox Slim 250GB + Forza 4 offered here in Europe for 229.90 EUR, plus 12 months Live subscription, and 4200+2100 ms points cards. My wallet will hate me!

After buying an Xbox 360 just for Forza and having bought all the DLC I think it is well worth the money. Unfortunately I wasn't too sure if this game could keep me interested for that long so bought all the packs seperately as they came out and wasted a lot of MS points where I could of just bought a season pass.

I'm pretty sure the Season Pass is 2400 points, and each standard DLC car pack not included in the Season Pass is 560 points. And there have been two after the Season Pass, and two before, the American Muscle Car Pack (which used to be included as a special with the Season Pass, but I'm not sure whether it still is), and the Bonus Launch Car Pack. So that's 1200 (VIP) + 1200 (Porsche as a VIP) + 2400 (Season Pass) + 1680 or 2240 (560*3 or 560*4, depending on whether the American Muscle Car Pack still comes as part of the Season Pass or not) = 6480 or 7040. Still covered with 4200+2100 MS points either way, but that's what you need to get all DLC. I've actually seen quite a few of the car packs for half price on Xbox specials, and now wished I'd have gotten them then, as it would have been a lot cheaper than going for the Season Pass, but I've just recently bought the Season Pass (an impulse-buy, really) together with every other bit of DLC, excluding the Launch Bonus Car Pack (seeing I had all but four of these, I decided not to get three, so I've actually got all DLC minus three cars from that pack). That's the run down. Maybe buy the VIP membership and the Porsche Pack first, and then see what else you really want from the DLC? I'm sure you'll be able to pick up some of the older car packs for much cheaper if you wait for the right time.

Season Pass is infact 2400 points. I'm pretty sure that the American Muscle Car Pack is still included in the Season Pass along with the Bonus Launch Pack. Unless this has changed.

I've already had the American Muscle Car Pack, so I couldn't tell whether it was still included or not (I know it was included as a special in the past), but the Bonus Launch Pack definitely isn't. After purchasing the Season Pass, I did not have any cars of the Bonus Launch Pack I didn't already have prior. Maybe it only includes particular cars of the Bonus Launch Pack, i.e. the cars included in the LCE? There are a total of 5 cars in this pack which weren't included in the LCE, or rather, you'd only get 1 of the 5, depending on where you bought your LCE from. Maybe the Season Pass includes all but those 5 cars, but it definitely doesn't include the pack.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. I guess I will start by buying VIP and then making calculations on what to buy and what not to buy from there.

One more question, is the BMW 1M Coupe an exclusive pre-order car only, or can I buy it in one of the DLC packs?

The 1M can be bought through the launch bonus and pre order cars pack (it's called something like that) for 560 MS points, I'm not sure how much the cars cost individually but I know the price for the whole pack.

160 individually.

Here it is.

If you have friends to play with then its well worth the purchase. So check your friends list and see how many are still playing. If quite a few are still into it, then you wont be disappointed. If you plan to get all the car packs then get the season pass and the VIP status for sure.

they also have 3 free DLC one for the 2012 M5 one for the 2013 Veloster and one coming out next friday for the new 2013 Viper

Thanks for all the info guys! I've ordered the Xbox360 + Forza 4 pack off Amazon already, along with 4200 + 2200 MS points and a 12 month live subscription. Can't wait!

Hey guys, can I ask a few questions? (may seem silly) but I've been away from my Xbox for a while now and away from Forza since FM2.

Can Forza 4 be system linked?
Also is there fuel consumption? ANSWERED
How many settings can be saved per car?
There's no night racing is there? (would love this on Fujimi!) ANSWERED

Thanks.

Hoping to get Forza 4 soon!

Yes, I think my Golf R lasted 12 laps of Le Mans before the fuel was almost out.

No, there is no night racing in this game. Not sure on the rest of your questions, sorry.

Great to hear about fuel consumption.

To answer the other two questions:

- No, there´s no system link support in Forza 3 and 4, unlike 2.
- As far as I can tell there´s no limit on the amount of setups per car, as long as you don´t run out of disc space. I have some cars with over 20 different setup files, and so far no problem.

Thanks MB,

Ouch, no system link? Shame.

As for set ups, does that include body parts, wheels and so on?

yes, a single setup consists of the upgrades to the body parts, wheels, engine, etc and the tuning adjustments made.

Thanks again,

What about permanent mods? that would be the same across all set ups for that one car?

I guess instead of system link, if the router allows it, two LANs could be used?*

Not sure if I understand correctly.

The way I do it is upgrade/mod the car and then save it as my base setup. Then, when I tune it for specific tracks I save to a different file. That way I can always load the base setup and start tuning it for a new track.

I see. Ok, let's say the first upgrade you do is weight reduction (that can't be undone?) and you put on a suspension kit. Then when you go to the next set up, the suspension will be able to be removed but not the weight reduction...

See what I mean? Sorry haha

 Congrats! You won´t regret it :D

$39 AUS for the game!
I was asking my mate (trustfire) to show me some things. His pics and info took my money out and closed the wallet! haha

Wow haven't played Forza since the 2nd edition! and my first 360 died sometime in 2007.
Now I can have a crack at one of my favourites, Richard Burns Rally! and V8 Supercar Driver.

Time to pull GT5 in to the pits for a while I think...

*Sorry, another couple questions. In-game when driving and replay, can we play music that we have stored on the 360's HD?

And the FULL CIRCUIT of Fujimi Kaido, is that a lap circuit or a point to point like the other routes?

Thanks.

Yes, you can play music whenever you want, no matter what game. The music stops for the intro video, but other than that music plays at all times.

And Fujimi is a lap circuit. It's like going around the mountain.
