Hey, have any of you guys realised that NFS: Pro Street has beaten the likes of GT, Forza, etc.? If I right, then Pro Street is offcially the first driving/racing game to officially include the Bugatti Veyron! Kaz must be kicking himself...

but seriously, if Bugatti are allowing EA to put this car in the game which has a full damage model, then surely they will allow it to be included in Forza and GT5, don't you think?

Oh, THAT's a good idea... saying that any NFS game since "NFS: Underground" is better than Gran Turismo and Forza because someone got the Bugatti Veyron before either one of them. You know, I'm going to applaud EA for this game. I got this as a rental for my PS2.

--- Raves ---
* This is a new direction of the scene. I like the idea of "keep racing off the streets and take it to the track." Many a time have I had to evade cops while tearing up half the city in "NFS: Carbon." It's a welcome improvement from a series that went south since ditching the arcade-style racing of NFS2: Special Edition. The difference between NFS2:SE and every NFS since Underground is that the racing still remained fun with NFS2:SE. No evading police, no "street cred," no "heat," that sort of thing.

* An almost perfect balance of arcade and simulation is something I like. I especially like the no shortcut deal. Straight-up road racing. The way to go. No shortcut through park roads just to beat the leader. No cops coming in and breaking up the racing. As far as sim racing goes, I could feel serious amounts of understeer when I was using the Volkswagen Golf GTI in the Battle Machine series.

* No more making a show car that can... oh yeah, race. Want to build a race car? Do all the custom tuning to make as best race car for the street you can. You've done it all alone in Gran Turismo and Forza. Why not do it in this series as well?

* A good array of cars to choose from.

* Some good music. My favorite kind of extreme music is electronica. I have a little more respect for Junkie XL. My all-time favorite group that works with rock-influenced music is Prodigy. The classic "Firestarter" speaks for itself.

* An alright driving model. The cars all seem to drive more realistically than in the past. You actually have to take understeer and oversteer into account. Still a bit arcadish, but not too much to be unplayable for the casual gamer.

--- Rants ---
* The first thing I didn't like about the game was the Leader Board and how it almost completely takes away from the left side of the screen.

* I understand this is still somewhat of a street racing game. However, the Battle Machine guy could shut up a little more for a little longer. A nice effect, however, is that these are different speakers around the track letting the crowd know what Ryan Cooper (the protagonist) is doing on the track. The React guy is a little less annoying.

* The tracks seem to be really uglied up with all the different displays and stuff overlooking the track. Could you imagine if they did Le Mans (as in the 24-hour circuit) or the Nürburgring Nordschleife? It just seems like every event is specially and specifically catered to the tuner scene. Keep in mind that I'm a sim racer guy. So I feel a bit uneasy with the tuner influence ruining the cars and the track. If you want an example of having a fun street-style environment, I need only mention either "Ridge Racer Type 4" or "Ridge Racer V."

* I couldn't make too much money with the Battle Machine races I've done. I don't think I have enough money to go out and truly make this car shine like I can in... say, the Gran Turismo series.

--- Overall ---
"NFS: Pro Street" is a game that's moving in a more favorable direction, but still has a lot of work to do to get the NFS series back to what it used to be- all-out racing with some of the best sports cars in the world. The new direction to more everyday cars means you don't have to have the equivalent of an FIA Superlicense or anything to show you're an amazing racer. Most of you may agree with me here. This game has the customization and modification to perhaps come along with true race cars. EA can probably do away with the tuner culture (not to say it's entirely bad) and just focus on making cars into race cars. It would take away from the precedent established by Underground, but at least the Hollywood hard-ass culture of recent EA games won't be there to irk the most hardened racing gamers.

yea ive checked up....The cars are only available in the as of now, and so is the patch, becouse there have been quite a few reports of bugs etc. So basicly they are using the US as guinea pigs before releasing anywhere else...

you have top physically be in the Us aswell, you can't just use your US profile...

yeah there are a few bugs, mainly with the shadows at leipzig, sometimes when you are driving the treet cast a shadow then it disapeers and flashes back again. and after the race when your car slides it goes through the wall, other than that it is fine

2 cars and 2 tracks....leipzig and a tokyo highway suposedly based of the wangan sort of...but on a bridge lol. I want it soooooo bad(the tokyo track) Theres not really any other tracks for grip racing that can really test out the speed descently. I also love the TXR style tracks lol:D

the tokyo tracks aren't that different from the ones that are already in the game if i remember correctly, but leipzig is awesome, the drift coarses are great. both of them also give you a lot of money for winning.

My only concern is that EA may have paid the extra for an exclusive contract, like they used to have with Ferrari, and I think they still have with Porsche. That would royally suck, because I think the car is wasted on a niche title like this one that's all about events and tuner culture rather than straight-up racing. I can think of several other games that would make better use of the car than this (PGR, TDU, GT, Forza).

What the hell ? Ea have ripped me off i think. When i downloaded the south african version of booster pack for pc. I got asia pacific edition an patch from www.ea.co.za. The game was working and when i tryed to type unlockallthings to check all the new cars what happend was it told me that the code was invalid. Makes me wonder if they changed the cheat codes too..... Other than that i did all extra races but still no new cars...... Damn ppl ripping me off.......

Some eye candy from when I used to play:

It may look familiar.

I personally think that NFS should become a Nintendo exclusive, and then become nintendo's sim. game.

Why? It's an EA game, they want to have it available to as many people as possible so they can make the most amount of money. I'm sure the NFS series sells in high numbers.

Well, I rented this and Frontlines this weekend, and it's been enjoyable so far. I have noticed 2 things though. 1, the Camaro Concept is a beast on the dragstrip, even at Stage 2 mods. 2, the newer GTO is worthless as a speed car.

I've only had 1 annoying problem so far and that is when I'm nearing 185-190, or 6th gear, the car will suddenly slow down...ON A STRAIGHT. Big WTF there.

But my cars so far:
Grip-BMW E46 M3
Drag-Camaro Concept
Speed-Worthless GTO for now and will probably change for my Viper.
Drift-Nissan 350Z

Making money has been easy as hell, too. I've only bought 1 car throughout the whole game so far, and have over $1,200,000 right now.

Here are some of my cars:

Drag: Nissan 240SX (low 7s on the 1/4, low 11's on the 1/2 and 1000ft wheelies) :D

Drift: Mazda RX-7

The F1 and Veyron are post-patch cars, but the game is still buggy as hell.

Oh Gawd, I really wish I had the next gen version of the game..... :( I am really missing out on the extras!!!! Damn, that Veyron looks like..... As for the F1, bloody hell! Remove that sorry excuse for a spoiler and make it look clean! :D I'll try to post a drift video of me someday and show that I am the "drift king"! :sly:

Erm...EU PS3 Store never got that update, so the EU PS3 version doesn't have them either....:(

The spoiler is there to push the aero stat to the max (level 4). ;)

The F1 and Veyron can both be totalled BTW.

BTW, anyone have any idea why that unlockallthings cheat isn't working. I'm too far along to use it, but my nephew rented the game and he says it's the only cheat that doesn't work. I have the update, but he hasn't downloaded anything for it. We're both on X360 versions as well.

i don't know why, it should work if you don't have the update.
anyway, i have been coming up with some really good blue prints lately and i am willing to share it. i will try to post a pics of them soon, but the family camera is MIA so i guess that i will have to use my cell phone.

No, the spoiler still makes it ugly. You should have used the one similar to the F1 GTR LM. :p
