But then that's what made the game so different, interesting and unique. My opinion obviously :p

That's the challenge! Navigating yourself on the map is such a pain in the neck but it didn't left me dry spending my money for a game that is no different to the others. Anyway, I think we've dragged it pretty far down the river

Yeah....

Need For Speed Run:

I have to admit, a very risky game title. Any game that's title involves a verb usually fails. As the user reads the verb and realizes its an action says "That means work, and I don't like work!" And sales usually go down.

But seriously, if EA wants to even think of competing GT or Forza they really have to revamp their physics engine... I mean there is no point in spending 60 dollars for an arcade racer with real cars that drive nothing like their real-life counterparts and locations inspired by real-life locations. If your going to try to make it realistic with the locations and city themed racing and stuff, why make the cars handle like rubbish?

Young people talking about Underground and Most Wanted...the REAL Need For Speed gems were on PS1. I'm talking NFS II And NFS III Hot Pursuit. Not to mention High Stakes. Those were the days.

The title is actually "Need for Speed: The Run", using run in noun form.

Guessing by the basic premise of the game they aren't even aiming for GT5/Forza, it's targeted at a completely different audience.

People obviously also have no problem buying a game with real cars and fake handling as the series is the best selling racing franchise to date.

Ooh yeah! My friend gave me a few of those (High Stakes, and Porsche Unleashed) when his PS1 crapped out. Let's just say, I spent ages on those games!

I forget which game it was, but there was one where there were hardly any lights and you had to race at night! That was incredibly fun and challenging! Sadly I didn't have a PS1 memory card, so I had to restart each time I turned off the console.

Still, the Underground and Most Wanted series were very good. I felt that Carbon was Most Wanted at night. I liked Pro Street for it's less ricer modifications, and Undercover was just a snooze. Shift series, well I don't really regard those as NFS titles since they really aren't.

Not to mention High Stakes.

I still have that game until today and the PS1 console has never been touched since then. I think nowdays, it's among the forgotten games. Only the enthusiast will remember it like you. I was 7/8 year old that time when the game was out and boy oh boy, there's an E39 BMW M5 in there

Shame we're not going to get games like that anymore...

I was hoping this game would be good - to be honest I havent tried it but going with the majority in this thread i'll probably avoid !

Having just got my wheel / pedal setup I was hoping for more decent racing games being available !

Ha ha, I still have NFS 1 (the original). I tried using my PS3 to play it but I could never get it working. It always freezes at the loading screen. I agree NFS 1, 2, 3 and High Stakes were the best of the series.
