Hey!

Having knocked off Jak I-III, Ratchet & Clank I-III, and Sly Cooper I & II, my wife is scouting for something else good in that style until the next installments of those come out.

She's also played Dark Cloud. She likes the groovy 3D platformers best, but she has a role-playing bent as well. She loved the Diablo series on the computer. We tried one of the LOTR games, but it kind of blew. Movie and TV tie-in games always seem to suck.

She doesn't mind the occasional shooter like Quake II but she's not a big realism fan, so no Killzone/SOCOM etc.

Any recommendations for what's good? Thanks!

PS2 : jump & run : Crash Bandiccot series; the classic, not very innovative but might
kill the time until the sequals of jak,sly etc arrive, for little money btw....
You might also consider Prince of Persia and God of War...
maybe also Timesplitters Future Perfect

Another option might be buying another console :

The Game Cube prodvides some excellent games, like Super Mario Sunshine and Zelda;

The Xbox offers the brilliant Conker : Live and reloaded and Jade Empire/ Fable;

For PS2 Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eather is defenitly the best choice 👍 It's not about shooting at all, in fact the big mission of the game is to use camouflage and strategy to pass the levels, you'll only need weapons at the boss levels.

Didn't regret my purchase at all+ you'll get some good help on the forums 👍

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! We'll check 'em out.

Check out God of War and Devil May Cry 3. I thought God of War was much better then Devil May Cry though, still both are great games. Plus you get a varied gaming experice with both games, sorta RPG, sorta killing, sorta puzzle. Plus the graphics are amazing on both games

These games are for Duke's wife, so I don't think Devil May Cry or God of War are good choices, IMO.

  • Psychonauts
  • Destroy All Humans
  • Lego Star Wars

Then Destroy All Humans isn't either...plus that game is terriable.

Terriable for anybody. It has no story line and it's pretty much the same thing over and over again.

My GF and all her friends love Katamari Damacy. (I'm hooked on it too)

If your wife likes fantasy themed games, check out some of the co-op stuff like Baldur's Gate: DA 1 and 2, and the Champions of Norrath games.

And dude.... the Lord of the Rings games rocks! Well, at least the Two Towers and Return of the King games. They're the exception to the "movie tie-in games suck" rule.

You could say that for just about every game.

Also, with a full nudity and a sex mini game, I don't think God Of War would be a good choice.

I'd also vote for Lego Star Wars, Psychonauts, and Katamari Damacy.

Well, she realized she hadn't played more than the first little bit of Dark Cloud 2, so she dredged that up and has been involved in that.

I'm definitely going to look into ICO, which I've heard about, and Katamari Damacy, which I have not.

Thanks for all the replies, people!

ICO isnt a game its ART!

ICO is really a different ''game"

I remember beeing pissed off that I couldnt find the special edition box early 2002.

Katamari Damacy, Viewtiful Joe 2, Under the skin
I agree here, Katamari and Viewtiful Joe are great games! 👍

I don´t know Under the Skin though.

Your wife has great taste for games Duke, Jak and Ratchet are two of my favorites series on the PS2 along with GT4. Sly Cooper ain´t that bad either, but I haven´t played the second one. Actually, the upcoming game I´m most excited about is Jak X, a racer version of the series. This one will be awesome, keep an eye on it. :)

Ico is freaking awesome. I believe it was a launch title, at least close to it, so it's on CD instead of DVD. The same team that made it has a new game coming out soon called Shadows of Colossus.

Also, Oni was fun. Though it can be difficult at times, and quite frustrating. I just wish it had some multi-player / co-op.

Prince of Persia, there are now two of them. She may also like the Tomb Raider games, but people claim the one for PS2 was crap.

Katamari Damaci is rather different. It has a sequel coming up as well.

Beyond Good and Evil
Good call man, I bet Duke´s wife would love this one. 👍

Yeah, ICO is great too, although I never got to finish it. I started playing it a few months back, then I got stuck in some part and GT4 came. I think I´ll get back to it as soon as I get bored of Gran Turismo.

I'm vouching for Katamari Damacy, the only other game that i've played that isn't Winning 11 or a GT game this year.
