Im looking for a laptop for home/college/fun use. I'd like something where I can play a few games on ( I don't need something crazy) I'm definatly looking for Win 7 64bit as I Hate Vista. But Im also looking to keep the price down as much as possible. 4gb of ram is fine, But I cannot find anything good yet. I don't want to go with a no name brand, but I don't want to end up paying 1500$ for the laptop... Any help is much appriciated.

Well my parents went to the shop today looking for a printer and came home with this:

I am not sure if it is 64bit but the price is great for what it offers:

4gb Ram
2Ghz Duel Core Processor.
15.6 inch HD widescreen (1366*768 Res)
2GB of graphics

Ill tell you now, the screen looks amazing and 2gb of graphics, seriously?!?! In any case the laptop is great, a nice price, should be way cheaper over there in your dollars.

What do you think?

As per my standard, I'd go with a Dell. Specifically a Small Business laptop as they pull some of the crap off that is included with the Home versions. The preceding link is for Small Business with filters for Windows 7 64-bit and C2D processor. Filter more or less as required.

With some assumed specs, I came up with this one. Highlights - C2D T6670, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce™ 9300M GS, 15.4" Anti-Glare screen and 320GB HD for $740.

Stay away from the True Life display. I have it on my laptop and at night it looks phenomenal but with the slightest bit of background light, there is some pretty significant glare. When I bought my wife's laptop I made sure to stay away from the True Life and hers is a ton better. Still like my laptop better, though. :D

My Acer laptop is running well after 3 1/2 years. No problems whatsoever with the hardware.

Acer's customer service blows though, at least here in the US. I have never come across a company filled with such ignorance and unwillingness to help the consumer as Acer. I'd avoid them like the plague just based on that.

As for a laptop, I will echo TB's suggestion and say look at a business spec Dell. You'll get better customer support and service if you need it.

Nothing special. The graphics card has a maximum of 512Mb but you're likely using RAM to bump that up to 2Gb.
Leaving that total 4GB of RAM down to 2.5GB usable for the OS. Which is just fine if its a 32-bit OS I guess. Win7 RC1 could only use 2.5GB of my 8GB for some reason because it was 32-bit. Normally the limit is 3.5-3.7GB. I'm really not sure what the deal is there.

Another call for Dell. Get the one you want, then immediately reformat it. Download the drivers from Windows Update, then get the rest using Dell's excellent "Support by Service Tag" functionality. You can even download some of their crapware, if that's your bag.
