I've been using a "natural" keyboard for 2+ years now, and my wrists have adjusted to it. A previous arm wrestling incident from years ago, severly damage the tendons in my right wrist. Add on years of BMX racing, and you can see why I can't use a regular key board.

The Ergonomic keyboard works great, but something always seems a bit off. Never really knew what it was. I recently found the Kinesis Keyboard. A true ergonomic keyboard, but with a $200(US) price tag.

THe help I'm looking for is if any of you out there have used or are using this keyboard. Or possibly know of someone who is. I'm trying to find out if it is an improvement over the natural keyboard or not.

Thanks in advance...
AO

I have no Idea on the subject, nore have even heard about this keyboard. However, try to find a keyboard in a local store of yours, then type out a page of a book (or something) to see if YOU think it is an improvement.

Since it really dosn't matter what others say, just what you think.

Get your employer to buy one for you as an 'ergonomics' issue. Then, if you like it, buy one yourself for home...

From the websites that I have seen, It takes about 2 weeks to adjust to it, and then you see about 20-25% improvement in speed. There is also less of a risk of Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI).

Of course, you can look up the Abtronic, and get the same reviews. I was hoping someone here had extensive use of one.

The most I was able to get out of my boss was a regular "Split" keyboard ($40). At $200+ it's not likely they'd spring for that.

Take a look at Kinesis-ergo and you get to see a whole slew of innovative things (Like the mouse that tracks head movements).

If I do manage to pick it up, I'll dro pa note in.

Wow... nice products, and nice Flash/Shockwave animations on that website. :) It's like an ultimate Sharper Image catalog!

I got into a debate about these keyboards with someone a while back. The discussion was based more on the programable function of them, rather than the ergo aspect.

Personally, I use the Microsoft Natural Elite at work and the Microsoft Natural Pro at home. The Natural Pro is incredible, and at $50 or $60, it's a pretty good buy. I also use the Microsoft Optical Intellimouse (semetrical version of the Intellimouse Explorer). They're the best UI hardware I've ever had a chance to use.

That keyboard is rather expensive. Maybe you could talk your boss into splitting the cost of one and letting you take it with you when you leave. Keep in mind that it does a lot more than you'll ever use it for. It is a programmable keyboard, with macros for use with writing software. Maybe check ebay?

LM:

I'm working on an elite right now. Long Story, but I sit behind a knock off of the elite usually. As for the Kinesis, I'm looking at the non-programmable one. as for Mouse, I have a Logitech something or other (Big red ball, stationary, (have been at work since 6am...Mind shot)).

The Ergo boards are amazingly better than the regular boards and much more comfortable after a twelve hour day. Many good thoughts.

Till later,

U know, I was gonna reply to this post, but actually ur topic was kinda confusing.

"Techno" is a type of music.

U maybe wanted to talk about "tech" stuff.
