hey guys, i'm new here but i've been drifting for a couple months. the only real problem i have is holding my drift until the end of the turn. (mostly of the really long turns but occasionally on the normal ones) do you have any suggestions on how i can hold the drift longer throughout the turn. by the way, i don't know if this matters but i'm using an FR.

its hard to explain..they call it "tracing" counter steer as much as your rear slides out and try to balance your steering and throttle movements equally....

P.S. Am i making any sense guys?

umm....i think i know what you mean. do you just have to look at how much your tail end is swinging out and counter-steer accordingly? and balance that with the amount of throttle you're using?

make sure that u have enough momentum when ur entering a turn. the more u counter steer, the less momentum you will have. gas to keep ur tires spinning so u dont regain traction and it will keep ur momentum going.

you have to feel for it.. everyone else has explained enough.. just get used to wutever car and experiment w/ what people have mentioned.. I used the controler for gt 1-3 to drift, and i recently bought a wheel.. I've found its easier to feel for drifts w/ the steering wheel and pedals once u get used to the car... many many many many many many laps

It's not so much of SEEING the rear end swinging, but it's more of a "feeling" hard to explain how you feel the car's rear end while just holding a plastic controller or wheel. Basically, as soon as you feel you're losing control while turning to the inside of the corner, is when you your tires "break" traction therefore making the rear end kick out, which is when you want to "balance" your car out with counter-steer, throttle, and at times braking.

Really hard to explain...but i know that it's something you will get used to and start to recognize the feeling over time.
Hope that helps and I hope it makes sense.

there is a fine balance between the correct amount of counter-steer and the rite amount of throttle...you find that balance point and anything is possible...

like i said, u gotta get a feel for it.. start of slow then slowly push the cars harder through the corners each lap.. keep trying to beat ur ghost.. thats how i got used to the wheel. I relearned how to drift playing Deepforest reverse and Midfield a lot w/ the mr2 gts and trueno. also... watch ur throttle control w/ the pedals, keep everything nice and smooth,

alright, thanks to all you guys who replied. you've been a big help. I can actually drift around every turn in Midfield Raceway. woo hoo!!!! thanks again. as soon as i get some more practice on some other tracks i'll make a video. it should be good cuz i've had a lot of experience with editing and special effects (thank you high school computer classes) I'll let you know when it's done.
