Need help in purchasing a new car.

Yes there is.

Four separate models will form the basis of the new IS family in the U.S., featuring two new V6 engines and both rear and all-wheel drive. The new IS 250 and IS 250 AWD will feature a 2.5-liter engine rated at more than 200 horsepower. The IS 350 will be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 developing more than 300 horsepower.
 
Okay, but it's not out until next year, so it's not much use to anyone after a car now, but how much will it cost?
 
3.5 Liter should be mid 30k's. It's a serious 3 series killer, we don't know the numbers yet, but so far by the looks and on paper, BMW in trouble.
 
Actually, I believe those will be out later this year, in regard to the IS350. I think.

There is very little to NOTHING that can go wrong a one to two year old car. Espcially if you get a good brand. Acura, Lexus, Inifinti, Audi (Its childish to dislike a car for something that certainly wasn't the cars fault), etc.

Personally, buying new is aobut one of the WORST ideas I think when it comes to getting a car. Why? You take a massive loss on the initial purchase just driving it off the lot. Let someone else take the loss, then buy it a year later, and viola. Good as new car (if you get it from a dealership), for quite a bit less. You don't need to be a mechanic to have a used car. I mean, your car will be a year old after time, then do you have to be a mechanic?

The IS maybe be a bit small for Grandma, its smaller than a G35, I believe. M5Power has made excellent suggestions. Perhaps a Camry or Avalon though? Cheaper than the other cars, good gas milage, excellent reliablity, FWD, which is easier to control on snow. Oddly enough, AWD's tend to be the cars I find in ditches the most, mostly do to over confidence and not knowing how to control a slide in them.
