Need help on License National A-10!

Yeh, really need help on this one, I can't get past fourth on this one at all! Going to go and have a look on youtube in a second but any tips would be appreciated!

(It's the Lancer Evo overtaking everyone at High Speed Ring)
 
My evo wont overtake that yellow Nissan! I get stuck behind him trying to draft past but he wont pick up speed at all :S

I'll have another go tomorrow, I might record what I'm doing if I can do and show you all and hopefully someone will be able to point out what I'm doing wrong

Thanks for the video though! It's good to see that I'm cocking up from the very beginning :P I might just be very very late on the brakes instead of being very late lol! Bravery is needed! :D

The question is what is stopping you from overtaking? Your car is faster even without slipstream. :indiff:


Are you continuously swerving from side to side perhaps?

Make sure all assists are off and stay directly behind the yellow car for a while, when you are beside him try and follow the slipstream of the car infront and dont let the yellow car take that slipstream

I had the same problem. In some races you can draft and in some he blows away and you get no draft. Keep resetting until there is a draft. Then cut him off on the inside at the first corner.

I had the same problem. The Silva is faster occasionally. It doesn't make sense, but it's true. I had to wait until a race where I could draft in order to get past him.

That is very good to know! Thanks for that! I'll just keep on grindin away until I get it done, I need gold on this and then I'll have gold A+B licenses, it's just sooo frustratin!

Came second! I'm still not accelerating like in that video!

I did it! Wooooooo! Lucky for me for all that work I won the ugliest car in the game! :P

For anyone else finding this a pain, instead of in the videos, I took a wide line around the outside of corner two, and then on the last corner I took a wide line around the outside of the Nissan and then cut inside the Supra to win ... So happy, to celebrate, Bob shall race :D

I had no problem with the challenge. Won it first try. But... Is the Evo X really incapable of driving in a straight line?

Yes, the car pulls to one side on the straights, it's been this way since GT5p.:sick:
 
Take corner 2 high, fast, and with a bit of drift. Should get you to ~3/4 by turn 3, from there, do a similar thing on 3, inside line on 4, and you're home free.

Do this, and the only challenge is not getting dq'd if you make contact on 2 or 3
 
Man, I'm having a heck of a time getting by the yellow Silvia on the front straight... whenever I pull out to pass him, he just stays ahead of me! I'm better off drafting him all the way to turn 1, but then I know I won't be able to pass the other cars before the lap is up. Frustrating, indeed. I'll keep plugging away at it. Best so far is 5th.
 
I must have restarted this test 30 times before I got gold, but not once did I have problems with the Silvia... passed it straight away every attempt. Something weird is going on.
 
I just figured it out, the problem is that you think you'll be better off slipstreaming the Silvia right from the start, but if you don't touch the steering at the START, you'll be lined up to pull alongside him, and you'll even catch a draft off the white car. Now I just have to work on the rest of the lap...

Just got third place, it's starting to look like what the video above shows.

I just got Gold. It's strange how for most of the lap you have to NOT use the racing line to get ahead.

There is definately something odd with this test, I can't pass the Silva at the start, and when I get towards the front at the end of the lap, theres an NSX leading, in front of the Supra in the video !

I've passed the Supra, but theres still another car to pass when I do it ?
 
You'd be better of using a wheel, I used a controller and placed 2nd which was hard enough then I bought a G27 and got 1st in no time.

Yes dont depend on abiding to the racing line thats the AI route a more human approach is needed, sometimes the racing line is a bit depowering
