Hello all,
I need some help please, in setting up my Sky+ HD box (amstrad)
What I need to do is enable it to wirelessly connect to the internet, I cannot use a cable as I only have one working phone socket in the house :grumpy: and the socket is miles away from the box.

Now, I know sky sell a wireless adaptor for the box, but it is £60 gbp!! :yuck:

Having done some googling I see its possible to use a Router as a 'bridge', however I really do not understand all the 'Tech talk' and therefore have no idea what I need to purchase or how to set it up.

What I need from you good people:

1) To know exactly what I need to buy, and for it too be alot cheaper than £60 delivered (otherwise it defeats the purpose lol)

2) Someone to explain in Laymanns terms (simply) how I go about setting it up ect

3) preferably a couple of options as space is limited.

Many thanks in advance 👍

Thanks for the heads-up

I need it connected as I now have everything from Sky (phone, tv, bb) which means I get Sky anytime plus and a couple of free movies a month as part of the package, problem is I need the box hooked up to access these features.

Ah right, so that's what Anytime+ is!

I'm not sure about a wireless adapter but my initial thought would be to get a powerline ethernet adapter (Homeplug) for about £40. You might also be able to find one with 2 ethernet ports so you could connect your PS3 (assuming you have one) via ethernet and free up the rubbish Sky wireless router.

I had the same problem my TV and Sky Box required net connection but there was no way I was going to spend £110 for a wireless bridge. So I spent a few hours setting up an old Linksys router as a repeater/bridge, not bad for something that was just collecting dust. Now I get a nice signal in the other half of my house.
Did you get yours working? I was considering TP-Link TL-WA701ND as it's under £20 and acts as a repeater/bridge.
