I have one of the "Black Cars" that I can't seem to get tuned right. I am trying to win the Gran Turismo World Championships. The car can compete with the others but it is tough. One simple bump or stumble and you are in sixth and can't catch up. Most races are 10 Aspect points, so that means I am close to the other cars. Accerlation seems ok, top end is around 220, Only has a five speed. Handles so so, but is fun to drive, just think it can be better. Heres my set up

Cany anyone offer any help? I have been trying to beat this part of the game for some time and have come up short. Is there any other cars that may be better. I have the following:
'98 Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car 1059 HP
'01 Jaguar XJ220 LM Race Car 905 HP

I also have this car, I have bought nothing for it. I have raced it the way it came and is has been very fast , but it gets blown away in the world cup. But I like the car. Does anyone have tuning suggestions for it?
'02 Nissian 350Z Concept LM 507 HP

Do you have a lot of understeer with that car? Because if you do, put the ASM Over at 2 and the ASM Under at 9 or 10. That's my fave setting for the ASM. For the rest, dunno actually. I'm not good at setting cars up.. :)

Think you nailed it with that reply, also, if like me you dont like using driving aids try setting a little weight to the front end of the car, this makes the rear end lighter and more prone to oversteer, meaning a better turn in. :)

Try to set the brakes at F:6 and R:4.
That should help with braking i guess.
And does the car have a lot of under/oversteer?
I always prefer a little bit oversteer! 👍
So ASM R:6 and ASM F:9 or so?
Just play with the settings.(practice)
Sofar it seems it has standard settings, and that is good.
Only i see the TCS @ 2???
Does it spin a lot if you give full throtle??(you hear the screeching of the tires than)
If it does so,set it @ 4 or 5.
You should make it with these settings if you brake well before a turn and just let it slide in the turn and give some gas if you see the exit of the turn.
So take profit of the whole turn. :)
OUT....IN....OUT!! 👍

If your using the black cars from the second hand lot you'll probably have to buy the chasis refresh, my black cars wouldn't handle right and i figured this was the problem. Just don't get the "rigidity increaser role cage thingy" sorry can't remember the name this created a lot of understeer on my black 787b :)

I bought the 787B from the Mazda Classics shop and outfitted it with a stage 4 turbo, lowered it a little, pumped up the front and rear braking and then walked away with the GT Championship.

Until I bought the 787B I had been struggling in the championship. Make sure you use racing/hard tires on the front and super-hard on the back. You will not have to pit in any of the ten races.

Going into the last race I was so far ahead in the points that I didn't need a win so I b-spec'd it.

Your toughest opponent will be the Toyota 88C but he may or may not be in your championship series. If he's not the Toyota 7 will be the toughest.

i should save up for th4e 787B, did that driving mission with it, FAST. i think it is faster than the toyota. that car is so fast it is scary.

sircely, im still shaking from it 10 hour later.

This is what i did = lower the Downforce, set the suspension harder(against the sliding in turns), and set the dampers softer to compensate these things.

i'm not good with settings... so all i did was buy the stage 4 turbo, lower the car a bit and viola~ no problems.. i found R2 rear and R3 front to be a good combination that usually lasted the whole race...

lol, i know! i fell in love with it after doing that driving mission.
im saving it for it right now.. and i also want the black 787B.. i think it's on day 694 at showroom I or II. i forget

oh, make sure you do your spelling check :sly:

Yeah I agree, the black cars aren't as good as I thought they were. I don't like the milage at all. It would be nice if they had 6.2 miles on them , but it would probaly go from 10 mil EACH ! We wouldn't want that. That driving mission with that car has got me thinking to buy this or the Audi R8

i'm using the 787b in the gran turismo all stars in the extreme hall. I find extremely unstable in high speed turns on the sarthe circuit. the downforce is already maxed out... is their any way to make more stable at high speeds??

thanks

also - sorry for resurrecting another 787B thread, but I found my reply more fitting in this one, than the other one that just re-emerged

ok, was still having difficulty with the LMP and Group C cars, so I decided to work at them a bit. I have the black things now, so i gave them a boot and found myself most comfortable with the 787B.

the settings:
I found some settings on GTP and used them as a starting point. I owe thanks to mavric240 for posting them, and give him credit for the wing and LSD adjustments.

787B (with oil change, chassis refesh, and stage 4 turbo)

Tires: Racing Medium - but may be changed to meet pit strategy

Brakes Controller: 6 | 14

Suspension
Spring Rate: 16.3 | 16.6
Ride Height: 80 | 80
Shock Bound: 6 | 7
Shock Rebound: 5 | 7
Camber: 1.5 | 0.8
Toe Angle: 0 | 0
Stabilizers: 4 | 6

Driving Aids
ASMO: 0
ASMU: 0
TCS: 2

Downforce: 63 | 69

LSD
Initial Torque: 15
LS Accel: 45
LS Decel: 25

I might go back and alter the LSD settings a little. There's some power oversteer present coming off low speed corners that I'd like to correct - probably by dropping the torque and raising the accel settings just slightly. It's not terrible, its actually a quite controllable driving characteristic of this car (and a bit of fun when you know its coming). It did catch me out a few times though, and that is not something I would wish to have happen to me in a race ...i suppose i shouldnt expect much less from 900hp car though....

Aside from that little bit, this car behaves very nicely for a 900hp MR Group C car. Stable under braking and turn-in, relatively stable as you pick up the gas. I did a 1'36.8xx around Twin Ring Motegi with this setup on my DFP. I dont know how great a feat this is, but it is a full 2.5 seconds faster than the best time ina Minolta at Gameplanet right now, and I am by no means a quick guy. I'd say theres still 3 or more seconds to be found in it.

how many hp is the stage 4 on the 787B again?

Stage 4 new oil for the 787B 938 HP (951 in garage select.. actually PS.) The Black version has many miles on it and only 891 or 903 PS.

I used a new 787B and had a hard time on two of the first 7 races, and did the last 3 B-Spec. I got tired of the time I was putting into it. The two races I had difficulty with, I used R3 front R1 rear and no ballast for only 10 points. I liked the ones where I could win with R1 tires +200kg ballast for 127 points!

It is possible the used 787B doesn't have enough HP to properly cpmete in all the races. I had the New version, and yes... you cannot make a mistake. Lots of practice required.

Most races are 10 Aspect points, so that means I am close to the other cars. Accerlation seems ok, top end is around 220, Only has a five speed. Handles so so, but is fun to drive, just think it can be better. Heres my set up
My general setup included 200 KG ballast with only R1 tires for 127 spec points and reduced (or no?) pitting.

I didn't mess with brake balance and I didn't log all the settings. I only log HP tires and ballast for an A-Spec point log. I generally reduce downdorce by about 5 front and rear on all cars that use it. I'm most certain I Reduced the front and rear bound to 6 and stiffened the springs a little. I always use minimum ride height on smooth tracks. I think I increased the Camber by 1 each to 3.0 and 2.0. I moved the toe select one or two notched right on each to aide in turning. I turned all aides to 0! no steering or TCS so I could drift. Adding ballast to the rear helps in acceleration, but then you have to play with the front spring a bit too. If you add ballast, play around on the 400 meter track for optimum accel, probably about 100 kg with this car over the rear. If you add 200, put most, but not all over the rear. Differential.. default.. oh... I did it with no Nitro!

Autoset varied by track. I practiced on each track for optimim, full usage of gears.

Oh, although I haven't raced a used race car yet but have all four, I believe anotrher here was right about needing to 'increase ridgity.' Good luck.

Drop the car a bit, lower LSD and pump up the brakes a bit and your DONE, NO ASM, traction is needed to maintain tire wear... if you can't drive the car with these settings, you are either a bad driver or you need more experience with the car. The GTWC are not the "easiest", but it is easy enough that i ran the black car to a victory.
