Need help with a TV series identification

Hi guys. Recently, a TV series I watched as a kid has been playing on my mind. Basically, what it involves, is 2 teenagers (I think) with an old man, who all have magical powers, a group of evil people trying to get (I think) a set of keys and a box. At the end of one of the episodes, the old man gets a magical wristband placed around his wrist by the evil people, which cancels out his powers. I know it's not much to go on, but any help is appreciated.

Was it, by any chance, shown at Christmas and called "The Box of Delights?
 
No, it wasn't that Famine. I watched it in year 3 I think, so it would have been age-appropriate.
 
As in "2004ish"? 'Cos the Box of Delights was shown every Saturday evening leading up to Christmas, so it was "age-appropriate" in the sense of family viewing.
 
Yeah it was 2004ish. I've googled what you suggested Famine, but it doesn't seem familiar. Any other suggestions?
 
Could you narrow it down to a certain channel or production company? Was it a BBC job or perhaps on a cable channel? Animated or live action.

I think I might know, but the though just escapes me without any more info.

I think it may have been BBC, i'm not 100% sure though.
