Hi everyone,
I’m trying to repair an old racing steering wheel (model GT V7 or something very similar). The wheel uses an elastic rubber band to return to the center instead of springs or motors.
The problem is — I don’t remember exactly how the rubber should be routed inside. I’ve tried several ways, including making it look like an X shape, but it doesn’t seem to work properly — it either doesn’t center or feels too loose.
I’ve attached some photos of the current setup here:
Does anyone here have experience with these cheap rubber-return steering wheels (like Genius Speed Wheel, Defender, Dialog, etc.)? Or maybe diagrams/instructions on how the rubber should be installed?
Any help, diagrams, or videos would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
