I'm new to this and im prolly alittle out of my leage here but i need all the comments i can get...... I have a '99 Grand Prix GT and in the last few days I have been having transmission problems, from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to O.D. it seems to slip the clutch for about 5 seconds before shifting to the next gear... I took it into my local dealership... well lol my local FORD dealership and ran a Dianostic Test and had the Trans. Flushed and filter changed.... BUT... still having the same problems.... If any one knows anything about GM Transmissions espeacaly Newer Grand Prix's please respond......

Thanks C. Bass D.M. Iowa.. :banghead:

Moving to the Cars in General section... of this forum.

Aww, nuts - I can't even move it to the Cars in General section of GTP. Maybe if I were a GTPremium member...

Based on what little transmission experience I have, it doesn't sound good. I had/have the same problem with my '95 S10. I picked up a rebuild kit, changed the fluid etc. and it still does the same thing.

It started doing this after years of huge 1-wheeled burnouts..

To fix this problem you are going to have to find approx $2000 to throw at it.
I had to have the tranny replaced in my '85 Pontiac 6000 LE, and it was an ordeal that took nearly a month to resolve.
It was difficult to source a rebuilt unit, and I was not willing to pay the freight for a new one.
I hope that it isn't that bad for you.

doesnt the grand prix have the same tranny as its olds counterpart?? because I hear that oldsmobile has pretty crappy transmitions, the alero in perticular (same as the grand-am, I think?).
