Need help with GT5 data and system restore

If this is the wrong place to ask, I do apologize. I looked through the boards and this seemed to be the best place to ask since it concerns GT5 in general.

I do believe I need to set my PS3 back to factory default. I downloaded a PS3 mini game, Golf Mania, and it left me with corrupt data in the mini's save folder and it will not let me delete it. It is causing my PS3 to freeze once in a while.

If I set it back to factory default, of course I'll lose all data of everything. Is it possible for me to put whatever of GT5 I need on a PNY USB flashdrive and then restore the system? I'm not familiar with all this technical stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Yes. Put your gamesaves on a flash drive.
 
Thanks. Is it pretty straight forward? I mean with movies, pictures and music you have to label that on the flashdrive in order to play/view it on the PS3. Do you have to do that for game saves?

Very straight forward... triangle > copy > USB :)
