He guys, first time PC builder here and need a little help getting my mobo to recognize my hdd so I can install Windows. I bought the following barebones kit off of tigerdirect.com. Got the thing to power up and boot into the BIOS but it doesn't recognize my hdd on any of the first 4 sata channels. It does recognize my sata based cd drive on the sata channels 5 & 6. Could someone help to get this thing up and running so I can start sim racing on the PC.
 
Have you tried plugging the HDD into the 5th or 6th SATA port? If it's not working there, and you have no other means of testing it out beyond that [i.e. external connector to test on another computer], then you might want to call up TigerDirect and claim the HDD as DOA.
