Hey Guys and Gals,
I've been running the "Ring" in the 650PP Seasonals, quite the moneymaker too I might add, but the The Ford GT 40 is giving me fits! I just can't get this car up to speed like the Mk IV before it, and the Ford GT LM that came after it, same colors and all. All of these cars are tuned with Praianos tunes which mostly work really well for me. Let me qualify my remarks by explaining that I can make the car go, but then I can't keep it on the track. LOL.. I'm starting to call it my "off-road car". Are there any other tunes out there for this car?? It seems to be a rare car as it priced out at 20,000,000. !?!?! Holy Smokes! I figured that at that price, maybe it was the Holy Grail of Fords, so I bought it? I have searched this Forum for other tunes but nothing so far.

Any assistance at keeping this car on the "Ring Road" would be appreciated.

Cheers, Pete

This car is indeed twitchy as all hell. I was surprised. You can make it slightly calmer but it is what it is. Its inherent.

On top of that, race cars really shouldn't be tweaked as much as road cars IMO. Make sure your downforce is maxed obviously. Tone down your LSD, put your front and rear camber to around 2.3 and 2.0 respectively. When I run cars at the Ring i always use 0 / 0 ride height. Makes the cars less bouncy. dampers I will pull out of my arse, 13.5 and 15.5

Also keep an eye out for the Ford GT LM Race Car in the UCD, its something around 2 million and is much more stable

Again this is just my opinion !

Sean,
Thanks for that, I figured I was losing it there for a while. Last night, I fired up a Dodge Challenger SRT8-TC and ran the "ring" just for the hell of it, thinking I would tag along and maybe keep the stragglers in sight. (Online 650PP) To my great surprise, I found myself in the lead about 2/3 of the way through and won quite easily?!?!?! (6:44) It seems weird that I could win with that car even with a couple of excursions into grass cutting, but be unable to make the GT-40 go well enough to make a decent time. Maybe I'll take the GT to the practice "ring" and see what I can do without having to pass eleven cars along the way.

Most of my excursions seem to be from passing so,.... we'll see.
Thanks again, Peter

Praiano,
Thanks for showing up here. I got your comments that this is not the "Holy Grail" of Fords, no matter how much I paid for it. Hah Ha, "A fool and his money" as the old saying goes.

I use your tunes alot and I really appreciate them. I think you are probably the best tuner here.

On another subject, that of Mustangs, I wanted to ask you about the SVT Mustang Cobra 2000 model. I tried this on the ring using your tune but I was very dissappointed with the car. I want to establish here that I have owned 3 different Mustangs and two of them were track cars. They were "rode hard and put away wet" as the saying goes. I used my last Mustang, an SVT Cobra '96, in the Silver State Classic series of rallies, that require speed and a little cornering too. The Silver State ran only a couple of times a year, so in between those events I ran the car on the track, mostly on the SEATTLE INTL RACEWAY, which I could lap in 1:45.

OK this will be a long post! LOL. Before I modified the Cobra, it would perform OK, but at 10/10ths, it would wallow like a whale on the beach. One day my wife, who was also driving it on the track didn't show up for about 5 minutes...... finally drove up with the cabin full of dried grass?!?!?! Yup, a spin out, into the infield! (Thank you Lord) I knew then that something had to be done.

Also, Steve Saleen drove it with me riding shotgun and turned the car loose and I could see that it was very pathetic at 11/10ths effort level. Holy Batpoop Batman, that was an experience!!!! The guy is a maniac!! We spent more time sideways than straight!

Anyway, I changed out to true MacPherson struts with coil-over springs on Konis, front and back, a torque arm on the diff pumpkin, and a panhard bar to locate the solid rear axle. ( Ala Z-28) No more spin-outs and rock solid handling. I spent a lot of money on the handling on this car and it paid off.
The guys in the Porches and Vipers could not believe that I would be breathing up their butts in the corners on the track!!!

Back to the 2000 SVT Mustang in GT 5, with independent rear suspension; this car was not very good on the Ring using your tune. I went back to the default on the suspension and did better on the "Ring", but still not as good as my Mustang. I was wondering if this was because of me racing online or .....what? Perhaps that tune was not made for online racing. I.m not sure why that would be true but I know that you specify "OK online" on some of your tunes so there must be a different requirement.

I spend most of my time racing on the Ring in the online section at 650PP. The reason for that is that I like to win lots of money for interesting cars. (I have 210 right now)
I really find the ring a challenge compared to other tracks. Also, I run Race Cars alot of the time which require a 500,000 dollar chassis refit when I finish the days racing. Money is good when racing!

Small bitch session following: I refuse to build up a car with all the mods only to put comfort tires on it!?!?!?! That is like spending 2 or 3,000 dollars on an archery bow and then shooting 2 dollar arrows with it. A car is only as good as it's tires. Period. It would be nice if P.D. could figure that one out. Sorry for the bitch session here.

Anyway, thanks for your attention, and all your great tunes, I'm a big fan.
Cheers, Pete
