Need help with the Top Gear races.

I'm doing the VW ones with all assists completely off and I still can't manage to get first. The sambabus one is the only race I really care about getting gold on. I want that track! Anyone have tips, videos, or a guide on here that I haven't found? I've searched but found nothing as of yet..
 
Check YouTube. There are plenty of videos that show a good approach on attacking the field to where you're easily 5th or 6th before Lap-2.

I'm doing pretty much everything correctly. I keep almost finishing in 1st but can't takeover the leader.

The hardest part of catching him is missing the draft on the Follow Through. When I finally got gold, I was in 3rd at that point, and had a great draft on 2nd going into Bacharach, before nudging into 1st at Gambon on the inside.
 
I give up with this for now. 2-hour attempts is about as far as I'm willing to invest in this; at least for now. It's funny, because I have gold trophies in every special event so far except for this one, which is like level 2? So frustrating..
 
I got GOLD in the Elise intermediate topgear challenge and silver in the sambabus and pubelwagen ones and I STILL don't have the TopGear track it's driving me mad!

How do I get the topgear track in practice and arcade mode???????

You need gold with the sambabus.

Its not that hard.

All asisit off except ABS 1.
Basicly do not break unless you about to ram into 1 AI bus, overtake the other busses at the corners, and make sure there is always a bus you can draft when you exit a corner.

Once you get to know the driving pattern of the AI busess it becomes rather easy to gold it.
 
Try to just get in the routine of overtaking them at particular corners/sections.
Once you get that down it will only be a matter of getting quicker through the corners.
There are a few different smooth lines almost staged through the pack
it's just a matter of how fast you are which decides where you overtake them.
I have got to 2nd before the final lap but usually only around 4-6th on a 'safe run'.
 
The key with the Samba challenge is to make sure not to slow down too much. Once you do, it takes forever to get back up to speed. Once you learn the spots that you must brake on and how to pass most of the buses without braking, you'll see that it is way easier than you thought.

Now the Lotus challenge, I swore that I would not try it again until EVERYTHING else is complete. It drove me mad. If I were competing for something important, then it might be different.
