Lost power during game, when able to go back on usual home screen gone, I only have the 2 options. 1 is options, 2nd is start new career,I don't really wan't to start a new career (had my Epic Master trophy + all my tunes), can't find normal career is there a way to fix this, didn't have the chance to exit game right, lesson to be learnt always backup your data, :nervous:

OK,

You might not be screwed yet!

Apparently for some people, exiting the game when you get the "new career" prompt can make it find the right profile when you next load the game.

If you're on windows, which it sounds like you might be (?), you may be able to go to your documents\nfs shift\profile name directory\profile-file, backup the current career file first (zip/rar it), right click the file, and select "restore previous version".

I don't think this will count as "help," but the same thing happened to me. I restarted and I couldn't get my old career back:nervous:. Then I tried to start a new career, and once I did the initial test and I was to purchase a car, it said that my garage was full, so I couldn't proceed. The "solution," delete all of the save files and the DLC and start over from scratch. Kinda stinks, but now I remember how fun the first couple of tiers of cars are.

This tends to happen if you haven't dl'd the update patch. NFS Shift sucks particularly in the area of 'random, serious glitches'. I think I'd near kill myself if my save was lost, as I've almost completed the game.

What I don't understand is why EA can't let you just backup your save file. I understand the need for defence against duplication but that's what trophy freezing is for. Retards.

I've heard that on the PS3, exiting out of the game normally once or twice will sometimes work as well. Although, when this happened to me I ended up doing what gman1647 did and started over. I keep all my tunes on Excel now, although your vinyls will of course be gone.

Yep I've heard that "back out, reboot and reload Shift" works on both the PC and PS3 versions.

In some ways it is fairly easy to tell that Shift is the first console game a lot of these guys have worked on - slowdown? Buy a faster PC. Lost your save? Do a backup or a system restore. You can't count on someone being able to do that on a console.

Thanks everyone for your replys, ok so I DELETED everything and I'm starting from scratch, realy sucks...all those hours, I did dl'd the update patch, this has to be a glitch, seriously sucks .... Could someone please tell me if I do a backup to a USB (go to Settings, then system settings, then backup utility) would that be a way of saving Shift on PS3? by the way after starting again don't sinc career other wise you will end up with your previous careers trophys .....( for some reason thats still there.. sucks...)
