I bought the fanatec GT2 as I wanted a wheel set with an H shifter to get into the manual driving as it did look like fun.

Ive done it a bit before on my brother's G25. I first tried in GT5, I would get the rear slipping out, and just some aweful rev noises.

Now in forza 4, even the shifts I thought were good, add a bit of a colour to the transmission in the damage UI. So was wondering if you can offer tips. I've watched a few youtube vids on driving manual, but I wonder if the games are a bit different.

So when shifting up I typically:
Push clutch down, lift off gas gradually as I push clutch down
When clutch is all the way down, move the shifter.
Pull back the clutch, push down on the gas.

Sometimes I wont push the clutch all the way down, or hit the gas too fast, or stay on the gas too much.

The worst shifts Ill kick the rear end out (in FWD cars too!). The best seem to be when I shift, the revs jump up then down.

Downshifting I basically just brake into the turn, then just before the turn starts Ill clutch in and move the shifter. Then off the clutch and either hit the gas a little or coast through the corner.

Its hard to describe through text, but any help would be awesome. I can clarify anything unclear.

do you heel and toe?

it's best not to rush the shifts and do it all in the straight line for a start. The rest is really just timing and consistent pedal work, you often lift the clutch too soon when you are trying to rush it.

I dont do heel toe, figured I should start with the basics.

I was trying it out and in forza, when putting the clutch down after lifting off the gas causes the wheel spin sound. This doesnt occur in gt5.

Ill try and take more time with the shifts till I get the hang of it.
