Hi I'm a new guy here in GTPlanet, also a greenhorn in Sketch-up and racing Sims, Name is Clark by the way, i want to cut to the chase Sir and Mam, I'm actually working on a PVC racing Sim project, right now I'm in the process of designing my PVC cockpit, and I'm having a hard time figuring out what I'm lacking on my design. I'm really going to need some opinion for those people who already have built a rig before, cause i really don't want to mess up, i understand that failure is a part of success but the budget wouldn't want me to fail so i have to be accurate on what I'm aiming for, so here are some of the pictures of my model please take a look....

I can't wait for your feedback guys, I really wanted to start this project as soon as possible, because i have 3 days off yoohoo, I'm also taking tips if you guys wouldn't mind hehe especially on what to buy and what not, so thats it!! Ill be waiting for your knowledgeable comments, Thank you.

My immediate thoughts are that Id think the shifter would bother your leg where its placed, and theres not really any reason for the pipes on either side of the driver other than to make it harder to get in and out of it. There also seems to be a lack of flexibility as far as ability to add on to it (if later down the road you decide you want a sequential shifter and a handbrake, or a button box etc.)

Thanks Joven, my model wasnt going to be exact as the picture, cause im planning to make it bigger for me to move around, im quite large so im going to adjust the width of my rig to the point were im comfortable, as for the sides, i really just went for the looks so i think your right about it,. And also your definitely right about the difficulty adding those addons, i still dont know where to put the button box, and the handbrake, and I wonder if i can get my hands on a shifter with a handbreak attached with it.

Monitor is WAY too far away -- should be right about where the vertical post behind your steering wheel is, not at your feet.

Otherwise, quite a cool design!

Thanks JohnBodin, yeah your right i didnt notice that, thanks for pointing that out, im going to move the monitor right away thanks

Looks way too complicated and untriangulated to me. Also how do you plan on connecting the joints? If you plan on using available connectors you are limited in what angles you can use.
