Hey racers,

Been sim racing off and on since GT 1 came out. Without getting too deep into my background... since I started using a wheel, I have been using my laptops that I have had over the years and set them up to my big screen and it was all on carpet. Recently work allowed me to start spending much more time at home so I decided to get a desktop this past spring and yes I love it for gaming.

Here is my dilemma, where my new desktop is set up, I am using a desk chair with wheels and it's all on hardwood floors. The problem is of course I can't hit the brakes without sending my chair rolling backwards. I tried a chair with no wheels, but with the Nixim mod in my brake pedal, it only takes a matter of 2or 3 brake inputs before I have slid too far away.

Anyways, just looking for suggestions. Really frustrated.

either a Chair that's heavy/ has long base legs, or a carpet under the chair and pedals would work, possibly

That would have been smart

I have a similar setup as you and removed the wheels which cured my problem of hitting the brakes hard and ending up in the next room.:lol::lol: carpet helps a lot, a small off cut from a carpet shop or similar, usually free or a small amount of dollars.👍👍👍

Ok, I will definitively try that. I might have to fight the wife since this little setup is in our main living area. She's meticulous about how everything is in here lol.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I had a similar problem with a wheel stand and an office chair. I used an adjustable tie down strap between the base of the chair and the stand. Removed it when I was done. It's a bit of a pain if you have to tie / remove often - ended up getting a sim rig for my wheel.

Oh wow, that is a really good idea. I have some bungie cords somewhere. The plan it to get a complete rig but thta's not happening for a year or so since the only place to put it will be in our basement which isn't finished. We finished the top floor of our house this past year, next year the budget will be for the basement. I just didn't want to wait that long before booting up iRacing again.
