Hi guys. My video card won't let me connect to the dvi. Cable won't plug in. There's something in the dvi connector on the card that's blocking anything but I can't see anything in it. Well I tried 2 dvi and dvi vga adapters too. So I can't plug anything into it now.

What's a good card for pcie that will run good battlefield 3 or something else? I need to be able to get the card local at frys or best buy.

The pc is
Quad cpu q9550 I think. Well 2.8 ghz per core.
8 gb ram
1tb drive
20. 5" monitor.
Win 7
Budget would be around $150

Can you take a picture of the card in question and the connector so we can possibly give you solutions to your actual problem?

What power supply does your PC have(model #, watt rating, and amp ratings)? That's important so you don't take too much that your PSU can't handle. You might have to get a new PSU if your PSU can't handle it.

Is it a Dell? Some Dell computers have a connector similar to dvi but is all pins.

It's a velocity micro edge mx 225.
9800 gt in it now. I can take a picture with my droid incredible but this gtp application doesn't allow attachments.

The picture though won't show much considering I know it's dvi and there's nothing to see. Just a normal looking dvi connection, but I can take one close up. Maybe it'll come out decent enough to see something.

Edit.....

OK, I'm goofey! I looked at the back of the pc to take a photo. I took one. But I noticed 2 more dvi connectors where you put your video cards. Doh! That is the video card lol. I was trying to connect to the dvi on the mobo. But it doesn't have 4 little holes around the long horizontal hole. You have the pins then the long one. There's 4 little holes around the big long one on the video card but those 4 holes are not on the dvi on the mobo. I don't get it.

But I connected fine to the video card. Lol. Haven't turned it on yet though.

Oh, I know what you mean. There are two different versions of DVI's. I do not know the name for them (my personal one is: "This is correct" and the other is: "This is the wrong one!") but yes, it is VERY annoying when you find the cable won't fit because it requires extra holes in it and the female one just doesn't have it.

It is something to do with some DVI output also being capable of encoding HD firmware products..... I assume.
